the update requierd would be SEVERAL GIGABYTES..i don't know how dumb you are but a 9 gigabyte patch is VERY VERY VERY BIG
not everyone can spare 9+gigs ( i only have like 3.1 gigs left on my HDD)
Why would it be 9 GB? After some quick searches, to download Reach to your hard drive, people were saying it would be between 5-7 GB. Why would the update be more than that?
(Legit questions, not trying to troll you or anything. I don't know how game coding works.)

(Legit questions, not trying to troll you or anything. I don't know how game coding works.)you would need to overwrite EVERY .map file (the user interface is actaully a .map [ui.map], and the UI contains every menu basically, this means it INCLUDES THE ARMORY
now for the new armor parts you have to remember, there is the BASE helmet, which has a model, a mesh, adn a texture.
these three things are what make the helmet appear as is in game, each file has its OWN size, and those increase reach's overall file size
now keye's face bitmap is 512x512 (lolhuge bitmap)and is actually a pretty big size, and thats a small human face
apply that to a spartan's helmet and the addons for said helmet and any possible armor parts they decide to throw in, those need to be added to the maps so the maps load the armors right...size has increased again
the files become larger and as such the patch becomes larger
also it would cause all forgeworld maps out there at the moment to become obsolete because they wouldn't have the files needed to load the new armors
You do realize this information isn't credible still right? Maybe 343 and CA found a way around the traditional system. Most of this is only how the Halo 3 engine worked, wouldn't it make sense to change it up a bit?yes and no:
Reach uses BLAM, and reach is still caching its files similar to H:CE-H3 ODST
its no possible to have adddable armor in the blam engine, WITHOUT OVERWRITING ALL .MAP FILES
the next halo game might NOT use the engine (since bungie only signed away Halo, not it's engine)
for the time being you're stuck with how halo game's work...you're free to play a game with DLC armor at any time
