Victory is secured, not from the throne, but from the front lines.

Just look at Little big planet. You can download new content and outfits for that game and my friends could see it regardless if they have it or not without an update. And i dont remember them saying Reach wouldn't be able to do that. Only Halo 3!

It's not about remembering, it's about this.

Don't bring another game into this thread, they don't work the same.

Ok. After reading every single one of these pages, I feel obligated to give my two cents.

First off, Let us stop comparing Downloadable Content and Armor. Like Shock said, if Armor is released through Downloadable Content, it will only be available on the maps that it was released with which brings about numerous disputes about linearity. Bungie is not going to make users download 9GB to incorporate new Armor through DLC. Tangibly, new maps are the only feature available for DLC (not counting permission files).

I strongly believe that the only remaining argument boils down to Disc Locked Content, meaning certain extras, bonuses, rewards, etc, all pertaining to new Armor. Some have said "Oh, hackers and modders found all possible Armor in the coding so nothing is going to happen," however, if it's in the game, it's in the game. Have the hackers and modders found Jorge's red visor, Kat's default chest piece with robotic arm, Jun's right shoulder knife, etc? This argument goes hand in hand with the fact that hackers have not been able to access the Flaming Helmet, Elite Officer permutation, or Recon Helmet w/ attachment. Every single one of you that refuted this has merely guessed that "hackers have found these special permissible files already". And although irrelevant, shouldn't the ranks Mythic through Inheritor be rewarded for putting such determination and time in the game with more unique/rare Armor? If I ever get to Inheritor, I don't want to look like your everyday General, I want to look like a fckn Inheritor.

Since Bnet is full of incompetence, immaturity, and idiocy, I would like to somehow figure out if a hacker, or ANY hacker for that matter, uncovered Bungie's Pre-order and Legendary Armor from delving into code.

Personally, I would love new (to the Armory) Armor. I'm optimistically rooting that Bungie is pulling a wildcard and surprising the community since all we have done since the release is complain and nag.

Once again, we know that new Armor cannot be downloaded. We know that there is Disc Locked Content (unless immaculately disproven) that requires certain permissions to be granted access to. We are trying to be optimistic (most of us), solely because new Armor is more Armor is cool Armor is ugly Armor is more unique Armor.

And above all, most importantly:

We know that this helmet isn't fckn EOD or GUNGNIR.

TL;DR - Read it.

Thanks for listening.

LittleBigPlanet, a great PS3 game btw, runs on a completely different engine that allows these downloads to successfully accessed (well, the levels anyway) regardless of whether they have that DLC or not

i know a guy who got flaming without getting legendary because he hacked, so surely if this was already on the disc people like this guy i know (wont mention him for obvious reasons), would of found the permutations.

Before or after the game was released? After it was released they could find the permission file and mimic it.

Hacker never found a drivable pelican.
This sole fact deems hackers mute.

this hacker duplicated the permission file that unlocks the legendary armour effect, there is no other possible way he could have gotten it because the armour is coded to only unlock with this 1 unique file

It's certainly possible to mod the flaming helmet into the game (from, say, a USB); however, this scenario does not even play into what we're talking about. We're talking about discovering where the Flaming Helmet was hidden and how it was accessed.

i'm also going to go out a limb here. this theory is a little far fetched, but it would help explain how this armour may not have been discovered

earlier, Quincey said that hackers found unused AA files in the coding of the game. well if i wanted to keep something hidden from modders, what better way then to disguise it as another file, only to change it with a patch that may be included with the map pack. the tags for the armour stored in the maps would look like they were left there by accident. like i said, far fetched and probably wrong

That definitely looks like a brand new helmet. Kind of awesome. I'd imagine it's disc-locked since people have said that they can't add new armor to the game because of how the maps are set up.

I thought they would design this game to constantly update the armory with new pieces and stuff to keep things fresh. They had a lot more options than 3, and you'd think they'd have learned their lesson from 3 that we want more stuff down the road.

I think it's stuff already on the disc, but clearly this would have been found out by now, wouldn't it? I dunno. I guess we'll find out next month?

Heh, funny but interesting truth.

If the hackers could find everything hidden on the disk, why not the pelican?

It was, it takes time to learn inside out.
The Pelican and Phantom were part of a scripted event, and those aren't easy for a generic modder/hacker to read and understand.

He posted it here 1st, got a lot of negativity. lol.

Seriously Oak, Ive been doing this -blam!- for 16 years, gimmie my Friggen starter Pokemon and dont call me till im the champion! ¬_¬

People are getting either excited or frustrated by this...

How funny would it be if they said "There is new armour available in this new map pack... dosnt mean were gonna give it to you!"

Followed by childish raspberry blowing and "neh neh neh's"

But seriously, its been pretty researched that this isnt possible... but it is...

*scratches head*

Theres only one thing to do to find out!

*waits*

Indeed. They did say before that they were going to unlock armors for certain community events.

Makes sense for those armor files to be well hidden (or mis-named) until said event happens.

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

Probably, as there is also an unavailable Operator Helmet variant. Bungie hasn't unlocked all of Reach's armor from the looks of it.

Thanks for quoting me, guys. I feel as if everything I said could turn out to be completely false, but it is certainly our best bet as of right now. March cannot come soon enough.
