I like Reach...but I want to love the game

I always knew it was possible, through Waypoint, they can add codes through a separate application to get more armor.

guys, this is what ive been sayin forever- with DLC ACHIEVEMENTS, DLC ARMOR could be made possible through WAYPOINT. maybe 343 wants to put their mark in Reach not only through maps but through armor. People say it'd take forever to embed new armor into the codes- but would it really? do you KNOW 343 or BNG hasnt been working on new armor? do you NOT see an unidentified helmet in the OP's pics?

As I said could be an existing helmet with new attachments. The Flaw in your theory is that the Waypoint armor already exists on the disk, you just had to connect to waypoint to unlock it, thats why the hackers could see it but couldnt access it. Basically what Im saying is that regardless of DLC achievements and waypoint there is still no way around the fact that the armor was on disk and any new armor would have to be on disk and would have been found by hackers regardless of whether you need to unlock new achievements or go through waypoint or not. Bungie said you cant add armor without recoding every single map. Its just not likely guys

Been a Bungie fan since the days of Myth TFL.

Why do people keep bringing up 343? In no way are they involved with this. Bungie has yet to exit the building if you ask me.

I'm thinking they will be added to Waypoint, and recognised by reach. Maybe achievments will have to be unlocked. Since it is 343, maybe it is possible.... Don't get your hopes up though.

I don't see how this can be true, the way Armour can be created is rather simple relatively to making, say an entire map.

Armour is just a 2D texture consisting of 2 image files, one being what you see, colours ect. The other being a greyscale image telling the engine how visible this and that should be.

This is then placed onto a character model which has a custom mesh, a mesh in no way could interfere with the game.

Sigh, Stop using Hackers as an excuse, hackers don't know nor find everything.

Name's WIlliam,

For the love of God it's pronounced mister-shag, not misters-hag.

Gosh I don't know what to think anymore. AM I REAL?!?!?

Even after staring at this mysterious helmet, I still believe it to be too good to be true.

Wonder if Bungie might comment on this before the March release? maybe in Fridays BWU?

it would require less than a 2Mb patch and a bit of coding to modify the maps.
Also, maybe they are well hidden on disk

Keep in mind I almost never quit, I just hate the fact there are over 6 different bans in the game, kind of leads me to think Bungie just enjoy punishing there fanbase.

Why is hammer such an asshole?

How about I hammer your asshole.

Impossible. But since it is two different pictures from two different angles, i suppose it is possible. How the hell did bungie do it?

It is my latest cultural research project! By randomly saying LOLWIN to semi-funny replies on the Halo 3 forum, I hypothesize that a temperary self-esteem boost will be present.

And once they read this, they will be a little worse off than before.

It looks like scout, but with an eyepiece.

All who fear reach, be prepared to die!

Hm, that is about as interesting as a grunt trying to control a pelican.

It might be legit but no one knows *shh its a secret*

Welcome to the internet. Joy dies here.

I think Evil Otto might have been practicing the art of misdirection. The few references I've seen to convos with him leave a lot to be desired. Like anything deeper than offhand comments. My guess is they want to keep the rumor mill as confused as possible, so they can sop up the good ideas and rake in the MS points. That, or maybe 343 has some better coders lol (MS does have a long history of experience with patches and security updates...)

Meh pancake-mix.

Odd. I did hear some rumors floating around Reach game lobbies that they may add new armor. Everyone said that it's impossible and that Bungie has to sell a disc for new armor. I think it can be done by Waypoint and by achievements. Halo 3 armor was awarded by achievements in campaign and in multi-player. The only thing that we can do is wait till the next BWU, have our MC point cards ready, and hope for the best on that new armor.

  • 02.15.2011 6:04 PM PDT

That's definitely a new helmet.

Also, if they add new armor that's not in the retail game, then they'll have to update/patch it which is something that'll make people happy I think.

Needs to be read.

Why are you here?

Weird, but it just looks like the last upgrade on EOD. I wouldn't place my bets on getting new armor. But if they did, that would be cool.

from what i have been told and have read, they can not add new armors, due to the way it was coded?

that was in halo 3 Im not sure how it is in reach

I don't have a link but I remeber this being mentioned in a BWU way back. They can.

Incorrect. 343 commissioned Certain Affinity to make these maps, this map pack actually has nothing to do with Bungie.
