I seriously hope it isn't made into a film. HollyWood don't have a very prestigious reputation when it comes to Videogames-Films.
If they could break into the area that comics have now though, such as the most recent batman series, superman series, even the ironman series, it could be a great step for the video game movies. I think that Halo has great potential to break that barrier, and possibly open the door for other games as well.
Too late. Mass Effect has a movie OFFICIALY in production.
There's also a Gears of War, Metal Gear, and Bioshock movie officially in production too if you didn't know.
Until they get to the point that they can start filming I wouldn't hold your breath on any of these major game films. Much like Halo the three above mentioned films have been stuck in pre-production for quite a long time and I wouldn't be surprised if they got axe'd at some point.
The problem with Hollywood movies is making a film that appeals to a broad audience regardless of the fan base.
If so this could be great as well. I never played any Gears because it wasn't very appealing, but I played through Metal Gear Solid/Son of Liberty multiple times. These games could be made into great movies because there is soooo much story in the game. This could work out really well with so much material, or could be a disaster because too much could be left out. Lets go with the first one.
Second, Bioshock. Replayed this multiple times because had great game play, plenty of story, and I wanted to know how the ending changes. That being said I'm afraid Bioshock could too easily slip in with the likes of Resident Evil/Silent Hill . The main character (you) has no background or character development(and if you haven't played it, don't think bad about this. It helps the plot in the long run). There could be a movie about Rapture, the city it's based in, but I just don't see Bioshock being a great movie
