Subject: Post-War Universe.

I am the 21st century Jim Jones

Lets discuss a hypothetical Halo Universe after the war.

I feel The UNSC would capitalize on reverse engineering both Forerunner and Covenant materials to better their stellar government, thus rising to be an incredible superpower in The Galaxy.

I feel The Seperatists would re-form to a drastically different Covenant. One that is significantly weaker than the one before due to severe losses with conflicts with surviving Brutes and San Shyuum (as mentioned in Canon) but will still rise to be a powerful faction in the galaxy after the defeat of the surviving loyalist.

This would culminate to both sides bettering their defenses thus beginning a 'Cold War' between the factions intent on finding and colonizing worlds throughout the galaxy.

But this is open to discussion.

Signatures are for squares.

Well, 6 years after the events in Halo 3, the Elites are hunting down and murdering all the brutes they can find. The Prophets were nearly entirely wiped out by the Flood on High Charity, and less than 1,000 remain.

There's not really much we know, other than that the Elites are completely lost and are running low on ships, though they're kicking the brutes asses I guess.

Yeah, The Covenant is a touchy subject at the time. But I feel, the Sangheili being the resourceful beings they are would be completely competent in re-creating their once powerful Empire, though drastically different.

The Elites are dangerously low on supplies. The Prophets were always the ones who designed/built their ships. They can really only fight with what little they had left after the war, so every ship is precious at this point.

Kinda says something about the situation they're in too.

actually, the elites and their allies (other separatists)are still in large conflict with the brutes, which are having civil wars themselves. And also, the san shyuum are slowly being eradicated, as the majority of them came to delta halo, where the covenant civil war started, and the resting elites there are the ones killing them.

True, I sort of based the outcome after the World War Two superpowers. The United States, at first in a major economic crisis then went on to make the largest Navy in the war in less than 5 years. The Soviet Union, absolutely battered by The German Blitzkrieg was able to bounce back and chase Germany all the way back to their homeland.

It is possible for both sides to potentially bounce back.

As much as I agree with you, I'd still love to see a book series based on The Old Covenant and a videogame where you play as The Arbiter during The Grunt Rebellion.

Karen Traviss is writing three novels that take place post war.

"Only the Fallen are Heroes, while the ones who still stand are villains"

There could some stories of ONI operations with UNSC forces finding the remaining Halos. Possibly destroying them or defending the -blam!- out of them so no one ever fires them off ever again. But thats after Humanity gets back up on its feet, Which will take a while.
Seeing as there is only 200-300 million humans left.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

I see a revolution happening at some point, a successful one.

Halo is one of the most important part of my life.

I think that 5 or more years will take to the Elites to nearly exterminate all the loyalist forces, done this, they will start to regenerate their culture and found a new goberment....

The UNSC will star a very large campain on resources becouse most of the planets were Glassed by the covenant.

I think that analyzing previous conflicts they will make like a "council" that involves only Elites and Humans.

The worlds will be colonized by Elites, Humans and other species coexisting.

  • 02.15.2011 10:08 PM PDT

Gamer by heart, Furry by soul

I think the UNSC would come out as the only superpower. Humanity still has the resources and blueprints for ships. Everything in the covenant was made by the prophets. They're nearly extinct. Sangheili would take a long time, but they would eventually go back to full strength. Brutes destroy themselves. Kig-yar go pirating again and the grunts will be left alone.

  • 02.16.2011 12:43 AM PDT

(\.(\
(='.' )
(,(")(")

the UNSC would prosper, rebuild and ultimately be strengthened by the war and the new technology introduced, i think after the elites genocidal mission against the brutes were complete they would begin to rebuild, put together things at home (keeping in mind billions of their species just lost a massive part of their lives being the great journey) and quite possibly seek a beneficial friendship with humanity, however it would be quite rocky and full of prejudice but the two species may very well work together to colonize the rest of the galaxy.

then forerunners show and are all like 'wtf is this? we left you guys alone for like 100,000 years and this is what happens...'

In memory of those fallen in the defense of Earth and her colonies.

March 3, 2553

hmmmmmm

  • 02.16.2011 1:56 AM PDT

Humanity will almost definitely be the first to rebuilt and bounce back full strength, since they never relied on an alliance in the first place. Never the less, I believe at some point a human-elite partnership will be created, akin to the prehistoric human-prophet alliance. Personally, I can see the covenant species, save for the the brutes and prophets, forming a treaty if not an alliance with humanity. Technology will develop greatly, with the assistance of engineers and the hunter worms on the comprehension and reverse engineering of covenant and forerunner tech. We will rebuild Reach and have a SPARTAN-IV project, including a Mjolnir mk. VII. I blame Halsey.

I think the Elites and Humans will form a highly beneficial alliance. Its the only logical thing they can do: we had been studying their tech for 30 years. We might be able to help them.

  • 02.16.2011 5:33 AM PDT

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Well, when I think of the Elites I think of The Arbiter. After fighting as The Arbiter and fighting alongside The Arbiter, I don't think he'd support a Cold War between humanity and the Elites. Instead, I think they would trade with the Elites and share power, energy, and trade. After all these peaceful years of somewhat Renaissance, some greedy person, or Elite, will rise to gain power and inevitably plunge into an Elite-Human War. Or a Civil War between humans or a CW between Elites. War is inevitable.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I don't see the UNSC surviving too far after the post-war. I feel like after so much catastrophe, the Insurrectionists would easily take over the outer colonies (because of either little to no military resistance), and the UNSC would either disband or collapse like the Soviet Union did in the 1980s. Countries would go back to being individual countries, and other planets would be left isolated to strive on their own. So basically, I think it ends with Earth winding up much like it is today (lots of individual countries) - with the exception of new countries or territories. And it ends with the rest of the colonies becoming their own independent planets, eventually growing to an Earth-like state with planetwide settlement. I don't think their would be too much (or any) contact between the planets either.

Think about it; I am sure the elites have the knowledge/intelligence and the help of the humans to build ships that somewhat match pre-war covie ship.

The Snow Leopard's wisdom includes: Understanding one's shadow-side; trusting one's inner-self; agility; strength; the ability to stalk; understanding the power of silence.

The Sangheili commit genocide on the Jiralhanae and the San 'Shyuum. Not entirely sure what else will happen.

  • 02.16.2011 8:55 AM PDT

After the loss of the high charity and the dispersal of San 'shyuum power, I bet there would be a substantial decrease of interactions between the different races of the covenant,

Most of the members of the covenant were either misguided into joining, or beaten into submission.

Really good points, especially with the Spartan IV project. I was thinking about Humans combining Covenant, Human, and Forerunner research to create the most powerful warriors, ships, and weapons in The Galaxy, thus propelling them to Superpower Status.

About the glassing, at the end of Reach, the final cutscene shows the planet greatly recovered by the glassing and a colony ship landing. So it seems re-colonization of the former human worlds are a possibility.

Also, it seems many Sangheili are very regretful about their campaign against the Humans. However, I do not see Humanity fully forgiving the Sangheili, so at the most, there may be cultural tension between the two.

The scene at the end of Reach shows some evidence of Humanity's technological advancement. The ship in the background is clearly of human design aesthetic but the white alloy and and blue lights etc. would suggest some implementation of Forerunner tech. Also the fact that Reach seems to be re-terraformed backs this up as we know the Forerunner were adept world-builders. I'd guess than in the years after the end of the war humanity fulfil their role as "reclaimer" and advance to being the greatest civilisation in the galaxy, like the Forerunner before.
