I breathe BR, not kidding homie.

Talk about Bungie's next big thing below!

UPDATE Final
Bungie went ahead and spilled the beans, you can find the big news here
http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link =bungie_aerospace

it turns out that BungieAerospace isn't technically a social network, nor a game, or some sort of promotional website for a new game, but a website that will help more indie developers make the best game they can and see their hard work come to fruition.

Bungie Ignites Commitment to Independent Developers

UPDATE 1.17: Hey guys, it's been a while, but it seems Bungie will finally be letting us in on some news regarding Aerospace. Sometime During June 23rd to July 7th Bungie will be announcing some more details and telling us wtf exactly Aerospace is (finally lol) SO stay tuned, there should be incoming news pretty soon, REVEAL COMING SOON!!

[Older Speculation - 3/11/11]

Bungie Trademarks - Some notable trademarks have been leaked, in relation to Bungie's unknown project, Aerospace- and as always IGN has the scoop.
http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/107/1077028p1.html
Some of this information confirms the idea that Aerospace is in fact not a game at all. Instead it supports the idea that it is a possible new game engine, or even as said before, an interactive promo site for something bigger, like a new game
Also, Cortana-5's thread on Aerospace trademarks, you can take a look at that here

Offical Trademark Wording
"Computer game software downloadable from a global computer network; Computer game software for personal computers and home video game consoles; Computer game software for use on mobile and cellular phones; Computer software, namely, game engine software for video game development and operation; Interactive game software; Video game software"

What could this infer? -note the trademark on mobile devices - seems interesting...

[Older Speculation - _____]
edit: Bungies next game is an MMO? ------------------------->
UpdateYes - Unless it's a joketaking in the information from this weeks weekly update

Urk claims Aldirge was attempting to make some sort of joke about the game being an MMO, or WoW in Space

"Now, in rehearsal Aldridge was convinced that everybody got the joke. It was all in the delivery, he assured us, and he was certain it was clear that he was playfully riffing off of the recent rumors. Unfortunately, most people can't figure David out - they can't process him. And we don't expect them to. You can't process David Aldridge with a normal brain. You'd need tiger blood and Adonis DNA."

So, what does this mean?
Either Urk is joking or Aldridge is, either way the idea of the game being an MMO has been significantly lessened due to this information, but with that in mind, it has not completely vanished either,

It just means the genre of the next game is even more up for grabs than it was before

While it could still be an MMO, this recent news wants to lead me to believe it could just be anything at this point,
I still think there is a potential of their next game being some sort of MMO, or influenced by concepts and ideas used in MMO's

but until we hear an official word from Urk or Bungie on the subject, we'll just have to wait
don't count the idea of an MMO/FPS out just yet

[Older post speculation - 3/3/11]
NEWS FLASH: Bungie's next game is confirmed to be an MMO

Confirmation: Bungie's next game is an MMO
confirmation by IGN, quoting Bungie at their GDC panel

Link Here

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/115/1153533p1.html

Sounds like exciting news to me?
what does this mean? u hyped for the next game, now that its going to be a MMO? seems like there be mixed reactions about it, you think theyre headed in the rite direction for their next game?

What do you guys think now that the some of the rumors have been shown to be true?

--->and that majority of the speculation below regarding the game being a MMO are now confirmed?
aka - i knew i was on to something lol, mmo wise, no destiny

leave your comments or responses regarding the confirmation below.

[Older post speculation - 2/17/11]
[b]**Bungie Aerospace and relation to
(the proposed) Project Destiny Original Post belowDisclaimer: this is mostly speculation, so idk for sure lol
But, here we go
Over at IGN they got the scoop on what might possibly be Bungie's next game, or what genre it would fall under, and knowing IGN's credibility I would say they are absolutley right, /jk

na but really, I think for the most part IGN's correct, seems like a reasonable place for Bungie to go next, into the MMO/Shooter area. Being familar with shooters, gives good ground for them to stay safe but to expand into MMO environment. Bungie's always been about space. They're good at it, good at space. So it seems like it would only make sense that their next title be something related to the subject. Honestly this could be gamings next big innovation, kind of like how Halo innovated the console shooter, and health system w/ rechargeable shields. I'm sure whatever it is, things are going to get crazy w/ Bungie's next game.

So what exactly is this rumored project destiny?

According to random sources which are more than likely not the most accurate,
Project destiny, as what it is being called now, is Bungie's next game which will revolve around a space type universe, possibly similar to that of Halo's or Marathon's. It is rumored to center on shooter-like gameplay, while maintaing an MMO experience, almost like a space WoW.

so its a space shooter w/ some sort of MMO background?

yep, thats what its looking like to be, even quoting Joe Staten from GDC last year when questioned about the next game

Joe says,
"Wouldn't it be great if we could make a world that was always there for you?"
^sounds like some sort of space MMO to me, or at least MMO part lol

While this is what seems to be the general consenus to Bungie's next game it doesn't explain anything about Aerospace.

What's Aerospace then?
Can't just be a blank site forever rite?

prob not,

My theory for what Aerospace is ties into this whole Project destiny thing, whether the exact term for DEstiny is accurate or not, I still believe before Destiny appeared that something like this would most likely be one of Bungie's next game.

I've thought about it before, and right now I think Aerospace is a Promotional site for there next game, not actually a game itself, but to have something to do with the universe and lore of their next game. Likely to be the planet or space station the game revolves around, explaining why the shirts from Aerospace say things like, "Greetings from Aerospace!" etc

questions to consider if these assumptions/predictoins turn out to be somewhat correct,
-how will this game work on consoles?
-Will DLC come for this game for years to come, like OBlivion or WoW
-What other competitive, campaign or multiplayer components will there be?
-How much function will the Aerospace site have towards the game itself?
-Game lore? 1. mysterious society in space? earth isnt aware about, i.e like Earth and Rapture from Bioshock? 2. Just space station, war going on? etc.

Yep, so, so far

Bungie's next game will be some sort of MMO Space Universe revolved around Aerospace,

and Bungie Aerospace site will be a promotional site, probably have some sort of stat functionality when game realeses, like Reach stats for bnet, but aerospace stats for that site.

but really, i dont know lol, guess we'll have to see how things turn out, next year should be exciting lol,

what your guys speculation or idea on the relation between the two? maybe no relation at all? what do you guys think

Or maybe you should either read it or don't post in this thread.

OP: good post but the Kotaku (or howerver you spell it) was proven to be false by Bungie themselves. I don't know if that is aplicable for ONLY the members being let go or if it is for the entire project, so just keep that in mind.

Well, if their "source" lied about being let go from Bungie, then it's more than likely he lied about the game itself.

  • 02.17.2011 10:39 AM PDT

ISU Cyclones!

I'd say that whole Kotaku report is completely unfounded. Sure they're staying hush about that MMO rumor but the same source just blatantly lied and said that Bungie laid off 30 people.

I'm willing to bet that some idiot who wanted his few minutes of fame for leaking the fake story made that part up too.

I'm still hoping for a space combat game like the Reach mission "Long Night of Solace" or something like SW Battlefront II's space battles.

Doesn't Bungie only have about 200 employees/contractors? 30 would be quite a lot/wouldn't be something that would be easily hidden.

I would say I am one of the most successful trolls in Bungie.net history.

So if it's an MMO, can we expect yet another fee to play this every month? I'm not a big fan of the genre and given Bungie's ability to make online games without huge loop holes and/or exploits I think I may shy away from such a title.

  • 02.17.2011 11:19 AM PDT

Quick as a razor, sharp as a bullet.

It would make sense to me if Aerospace were some kind of advertising platform, viral or otherwise, for Destiny or the project's actual name.

As do I.

But they're is no proff of an MMO so far. Maybe a Borderlands-esque gameplay style? It'd be pretty cool.

Interesting.

I just don't wanna pay a monthly fee or anything like that.

If said game were online and pay to play....whom would the money go to?

Activision or Bungie?

Activision makes enough from WoW...so I wouldnt pay it if they received it.

Bungie can has all my monies though. :D

I agree with you that I think it will be some kind of an MMO. However, that IGN article can't be cited as a source. IGN's source for that article was a Kotaku article (if I'm not mistaken). And this article was already proven to be false on its biggest claim. So, why should I believe this whole Destiny, codenamed Tiger business?

Theories based off lies usually never turn out so well. Wait for some valid/confirmed claims before you start speculating OP, otherwise you'll have people carrying on rumors and distorting said rumors to a ridiculous degree as there are no solid facts to look at.

Kotaku probably just needed some big news today and made up the story about the contractors being fired and took info from old stories to come up with the MMO FPS part.
