Subject: Bungie's New IP? Destiny

http://kotaku.com/#!5762663/is-destiny-the-next-game-from-the -creators-of-halo

Based on this rumor article Bungie's new IP will be an MMOFPS. If this is true I am amazingly stoked: Bungie potentially getting help from the best MMO developer (Blizzard durr) and the money from Activision to create an immense universe. Plus, Bungie still owns the rights to their IP, Activision only owns the publishing rights to that new IP for the next 10 years.

So do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us...

Way to steal a thread >_>

My bad, didn't see your thread.

if it is a mmo... by by wow subscription... hello destiny

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

*Sigh* I wish they would come out with games where story was their first priority. Not multiplayer, like Alan Wake, Dead Space, or Halo: CE, 2, 3, ODST, Wars.

*clears throat* What? ODST's main focus was on multiplayer? Not too sure you know what you're talking about there. Lol

Alan Wake has no multiplayer, so I guess he meant games that focus on the story and not in the multiplayer.

It really shows too, ODST's story was amazing compared to the Halo games.

Also, I wouldn't trust anything Kotaku says without proof. They did post that Bungie fired 30 people and that one of them was the source for the article, when in reality they didn't fire anyone.

MMO MMO MMO MMO MMO!

I cannot put into words how stoked I am. So for now, I will just keep saying words that associate with happiness.

HAPPY! BUNNIES! CLOUDS! SEX! SPRING! COTTON PILLOWS! PUPPIES!

If the game is an MMO then the entire game is Multiplayer and the story goes along with the Multiplayer. Point is moot.

Moot. Moot indeed.

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

I don't trust Kotaku anymore ...

This has essentially been confirmed as fake by Bungie. The layoffs never happened so I don't believe this Destiny stuff.

If anything that leans more towards confirming it. Why would they deny the firings, but not deny the Destiny story if the Destiny story wasn't true....

They sure do have the tendency to post some ridiculous articles.

Developers usually don't deny or confirm things to build mystery around it. If they said it wasn't a MMO then... they're not building an mmo. If they don't comment on it then they could be making anything. Also the fact that the source lied about the layoffs makes me believe that he also lied about destiny.

I still wouldn't say that's fact, simply because this is ultimately a he-said they-said story.

I just don't want a separate subscription fee for whatever game they have planned.

I doubt there would be, buddy. There's only one game I can think of on the consoles that engaged in some sort of per-month subscription (Final Fantasy 11) and I can't say that the "success" of that game has inspired any more to follow.

Sir Loin

Also the fact that the source lied about the layoffs...

Did they lie about it? Look at Bungie's PR statement again and pay close attention to what isn't said as well as what is.

From working in the corporate world I know that the truth is somewhere in between both statements. I would assume that the 'source' was let go because he wasn't able to adhere to some form of strict tight-lip protocol and was let go. Thus feeling the need to go and shoot his mouth. But people let go in companies all the time, and it's mostly the contractors that get the ax first.

In either case...I'm looking forward to the game, as I always somewhat suspected that it would be an FPSMMO

I've personally been hoping for a music game from bungie (Marty O'Donnels Keyboard Adventure!) but an FPSMMO is a much more natural move for them (and I doubt that many would disagree with that.)

The Joyeuse IP Formula

If the source is false, then the information about the new IP is false.

On top of that, Urk posted the blog post late last night. Thus, he probably didn't have anyone to contact about what to say about the IP information.

Maybe he was hoping for people to put two and two together. Apparently, people can't. There's no evidence supporting what the source said about the new IP. Anyone could have made up the "info" about the new IP with the use of previous speculation and history. I pity anyone who believes the crap Kotaku posted.

Actually, I don't. Learn to put 2 and 2 together. Seriously, now.
