Friggin' awesome. Why? Because Bungie is one of the few god damn developers that can pull a console MMO off. Another reason? They're one of the most professional and respectable developers out there that polish their games to near-perfection. A new I.P. means a completely new graphical theme. No more Halo-related graphics. We'll be seeing a brand-new Bungie that we've never seen before, on most definitely a new engine, to create the most advanced, polished, smooth, and defining next-generation game we've seen. My ideas?

I really hope for FPS view. Very militarized, very accessible and personal. Lots of stats, like weapon forging, armor upgrading, and pretty much all stats from other popular MMOs redefined to fit Bungie's game and worked out even better than before.

Don't really feel like listing all my ideas too tired.

But, yeah. Bungie could do it, why else would they partner with Activision? They need the server power that WoW uses. Imagine thousands of people playing a Bungie game at once, with the sandbox that surpasses Halo with vehicles, weapons, locations, landscaping/size and creativity. Imagine having clans and battling with your own vehicles and weapons and scavenging in a "wilderness" similar to Runescape. Controlling your territory and pillaging others'.

If Bungie is going through with this, I'm sure they will go balls-out. When Halo was a new I.P., it revolutionized console gaming. If Bungie's new I.P. is an MMO, it will revolutionize gaming in general and will be the most popular game to-date. With the help of Activision, all the CoD fanboys will come in one giant swoop and Bungie will be the Indisputable King of Games once again(and by that, I mean EVERYONE will accept Bungie as the King of Games, there's still a lot of people in denial.)

Oh, and I'm sure Bungie will bring some of the communities hobbies back and possible, especially machinima. OMG! Making a movie with literally thousands of people at your disposal(if you can get em') Come on Bungie, this -blam!- would be amazing. Give your longest Halo fan his longest and most hoped for gaming dream.

MMOFPS. lame. I couldn't even imagine remotely how it would be considered fun in the sense that I would want to play something as an MMO that was always meant for short-term play.

FPS has always been about those quick matches, Long game time in a Single match sucks. Having a team sucks, unless if it's a teamed you formed. It just is horrible.

Now I can minutely scrape the thought of how it could be somewhat enjoyable, but MMOs have always been (exception to EVE-Online; that I know of) about what level you are and how much damage you can do, and what better tier of weapons/gear you are equipped with. The thought of that being put together with an FPS is horrible taste like orange juice and toothpaste. It seems okay at first, then quickly realize you made a huge mistake.

None-the-less; I would enjoy seeing this concept being executed by none other Blizzard (activision-blizzard for the perfectionists and the wikipedia fanatics) and Bungie. I in my eyes see that this would be more of a Starcraft genre. It's the only thing that I can see. The only other MMO-ish shooter that is being developed (that I know of) that has any exceptional innovation of design to how MMOs work is DUST 514. It's based off of EVE-Online's economy and meshed with another Genre in the concept of having mercenaries on planets who work for your corporation with-in EVE Online to gain grounds and battle out for supremacy within the System.

For those of you who have remotely no idea what I'm talking about, maybe you should clean up on what an MMO is and the philosophy behind MMO players. Just because an idea SOUNDS cool, never means that it will launch. I can guarantee though what ever kind of MMO it is, what ever type of video game is produced. IT will be an instant hit, and a must have by every true video gamer. A company such as Blizzard with 12 million subscribers and 3 primary video games as it's dominance that all three still thrive today, doesn't sign to work with another company for a new video game out of no where.

Get ready for a serious kick ass video game.

Honestly, I'm not particularly convinced any of this is true, but if an MMOFPS were to be made well, all they'd really need to do to make it FUN is to have the combat and gameplay follow similarly to Oblivion or Fallout 3, just with more players and a matchmaking system.

avid forger, love vehicle gameplay

Actually an zombie MMO 3rd Person Shooter is definetely coming for the 360 called class3 by Undead Labs. It plans to launch the thousand player idea in it's updated/full release version Class4. The whole idea though is amazing, and I would love to play a game like this if it actually works well!

actually, the literal definition of an MMO fits Halo Matchmaking into it.

We have just altered to fit more realistically into the current generation of "MMO's".

I know right. The whole game would be like one endless round of matchmaking without the option to jump into campaign to cleanse you of the screaming twelve year olds.
That is a scary prospect.

Combat mechanics built off of concepts for the original Halo MMO before it got the axe.

-blam!- why'd it get cancelled!?!?!?!?

Turkey

Honestly, seeing as Bungie joined Activision, Blizzard and Activision are merged, and Blizzard happens to have an MMOFPS codenamed 'Titan' in the works, I think it's safe to say that Bungie and Blizzard will be working together.

P.S. this would be the greatest thing ever.

He was a bit harsh about it but halo is nothing like a massive multiplayer online first person shooter. Its a first person shooter with online capabilitys

  • 02.19.2011 12:48 PM PDT

Seriously Oak, Ive been doing this -blam!- for 16 years, gimmie my Friggen starter Pokemon and dont call me till im the champion! ¬_¬

See, the idea of an MMOFPS confuses me a little

People say if bungie made this game itd kill WOW, but how? WOW (curse my jagged tounge) uses basic RPG elements to make it the game it is, people spend their lives on it because they need to level up stats, spend skill points, go on raids, mine for fish, All these concepts

An FPS would imply it dosnt have these aspects, its either gonna be Halo Online where everyones in the same place, or WOW with guns, both of which dosnt sound that appealing

Im probobly setting myself up to set the pervibial foot in my mouth here, because there's still that solid belief Bungie's gonna come out with something thats litterly gonna take my mind and blow it all over the bathroom stalls of takey back alley hotels across the globe, but i still remain pesimistic, its human nature to fear what they don't understand

All i can think of as an MMOFPS is a game of Halo, thosands and thosands of players in one giant multiplayer battlefield, and i worry about how successful that could be

I stopped reading at about the 7th (lol) post. Its all wall to me. But your thinking is wrong. Have you ever heard of Runescape? WoW is just one of many great MMORPGs. Also, I don't understand if you mean:

Massive Multiplayer Online First Person Shooter.
Or
Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game.

They are very different. I don't think I could handle having Bungie make one of those click to attack games. They suck!

As for your thinking, Halo is an MMOFPS. MMO just means it's online IMO. Also, there is no "king" of games. If there was, all games would suck. Bungie has to have competition to make great games.

Also, Bungie didn't join activision, They were hired for a while. They could make any kind of game possible. Don't forget that Bungie was originaly going to make a RTS. Personally, I don't care what "kind" of game they make. I play FPS, 3rdPS, RTS, MMORPG. The only kind of game I hope they don't make is MMOFPS. By that I mean an FPS that works like a MMORPG.

But as far as im concerned, If Bungie makes it, It's a great game.
