Why do the tanks look like -blam!-? I'm sorry but the current tanks we have today look better then the ones they have 500 years into the future, its terrible.

Sometimes gameplay triumphs story. And a Scorpion would kick an Abrams ass any day.
Indeed.

The Abram's Tank fires a 105mm Sabot round, which is actually a 30-40mm dart. The Scorpion's 90mm slug is an explosive, making it just as ideal against armor, while staying effective against infantry.

The Scorpion is able to fire more quickly, around every 3 seconds. All of its rounds are self-fed.

The Abrams Tank requires a team. The Scorpion needs only one. And get this: Not only can the single occupant fire the main cannon, but also the machine gun that is to the right of it.

Lets translate this into an argument about Elites, Grunts and alien life-form.

Why do aliens look so un-alien-ish? I'm sorry but the current alien we've seen today are more realistic than the ones we projected for a video game. I'm failing to comprehend that a video game doesn't equal real life.

The Abram's Tank fires a 102mm Sabot round, which is actually a 30-40mm dart. The Scorpion's 90mm slug is an explosive, making it just as ideal against armor, while staying effective against infantry.

Not saying it's not better, but the Scorpion requires a neural interface to even pilot it, and in the later Halo's, you needed a separate gunner. But does the Abrams really only fire a 30mm shell?

The shell itself is 105mm. But it is a sabot round. The shell speeds up the 40mm dart. It is ideal for penetration, but not so against a group of infantry.

Halo Reach's Scorpion does, indeed, have a machinge gun by the main cannon. For gameplay reasons, you can't use it.

Besides, Neural Interfaces are pretty much standard for the armed forces.

Halo is set 500 years in the future, but the art style makes the humans look like they're in the near future (about 50 years from now).

Art style =/= realistic progress of technology over 500 years

Wasn't it said not that far back by 2000 we would have space cars?

Besides, seeing as the UNSC focused mainly on colonization and economy instead of weapons until the rebels popped up, it's entirely likely.

It's very wise that the Halo humans decided to focus on those things instead of war.

It takes alot of money for maintaining the large fleets, billions of humans, terraforming, colonizing 800 planets,...The cost of those things is enormous.

Only retarded governments would focus on war instead of spreading an empire accross planets to save the Earth population.

Yep, thats what happens when people stop funding the military. They get killed by intergalactic religious fanatics on a quest to set off forerunner rings, that would destroy all sentient life in the galaxy.

Actually, the sabot is 120mm, not 105mm, and can be either a kinetic penetrator, or a high explosive anti-tank (HEAT) round.

I don't believe that the UNSC's Government neglected the Military.

It comes down to the battle doctrine: Rapid Deployment. When it comes to inter-galactic warfare, you need to have the land vehicles deployed as fast as possible, while still maintaining firepower.

Not only are the vehicles more improved, but so are the infantry weapons. Each of them are actually more powerful than their modern counterparts. I wouldn't be surprised if they actually had farther range than what we have today as well (Range is limited for gameplaysake).

They didn't neglect the military, but the money wasn't put into making "bigger, better guns."

As something was commonly said in one of my history classes, when a President enters office in the USA, they choose whether the money goes to military, or other areas.

The UNSC put research, development, and funds into those other areas.

If the UNSC were stupid like us,they would still be stuck on Earth with civil wars because of the high population.

Humanity is doomed by it's stupidy.

UNSC FTW!!
