Subject: Which Halo is the Best Halo?

I can't decide between Halo CE and Halo 2.

  • 02.19.2011 9:32 PM PDT

Each Halo Game has their own specialty, that's why I can't decide which one is the best of the best. However what I can say is that:

Halo Combat Evolved , which received critical acclaim, and worldwide recognition to Bungie, has the Best Story, easily understandable. It also has the Best Originality, since this game has brought huge success to sequels and prequels of the franchise, as well as the creation of its novels, and comics.

Halo 2 has the Best Campaign, featuring a wide variety of Enemies from different factions, differentiated with their rank colour. In addition, it has the Best Environment, with outstanding designs of sightseeing Forerunner structures, as well as the breathtaking atmosphere surrounding it, makes me feel like playing this game again, and again.

Halo 3 , undoubtedly, has the Best Competitive Multiplayer, since there is a huge set of gametypes we can play on, like Territories, and Grifball, bringing in new challenges to gamers upon fighting each other. In addition, it has the Best Design, with textures, shaders, and surface of the walls, armor, and characters had been given an excellent, and creative finish.

Halo 3: ODST may have not wow every Halo gamer, but Marty, and Salvatori's efforts to composing magnificent scores for this game, had brought in the title for Best Music. Furthermore, it has the Best Cooperative Multiplayer, since it has introduced Firefight, where up to 4 gamers create a strategy to defend a particluar area as long as they can, with challenges, like skulls, are arising as more sets are complete.

Halo Reach has the Best Engine, since it can carry as many as 40 AI characters, bringing in a huge firefight between both sides, making the environment of war to be more realistic. Moreover, it has the Best Innovative Design, due to the widely improved version of Forge, whereby gamers can now design their own layouts of weapons, vehicles, and structures in a more convenient way.

As for Halo Wars , I have nothing to say how special this game is. Besides, I am not an avid Real-Time-Strategy Gamer. Still, a good job to Ensemble Studios for putting all their efforts to expanding the franchise.

Halo 3 ODST, but you didn't put in in the poll because your an ass.

AFK: Away from Kontroller. Don't do it or you'll get the living crap smacked out of you by the Banhammer. If you disagree with any of this, you are just bad at Mortal Kombat.

I can see why War's was left out but why exclude ODST? It may not be a fan favorite (i enjoyed it at least) but it wouldn't have hurt to put it as a choice.

Hmm I have to it's a tie between CE and Halo 2. Those are both really good games (both in which i consider to have a good campaign that has a few jokes and funny dialogue. Not so much in the later installments but they are good too.)

For me it's Halo 2. Has to be Halo 2.
Because it carries on the story from CE, but you knew there'd be more to come(Halo 3).

It's brilliant.

Halo 2
Best Campaign

Just all around my favorite game of all time.

I love all the Halos, but 3 did it for me. It had the look of a modern fps but the feel of a classic one (at least it does now :p).

Reach is great, but in some ways it feels like a step back from Halo 3. The campaign wasn't really as epic (that goes for the music as well), not to mention it butchered canon. The maps were disappointing (I'm sorry but drawing multiplayer maps from campaign or vice versa is just lazy). Also (and I know this is nit-picking) no default Team Slayer or VIP? Why? Forge however is 10x better than it was in Halo 3, and Challenges are a great reason to come back for more.

I didn't play CE or 2 in their hayday, but they're both good games. CE was simple and fun, and 2 expanded on that and built upon it. But 3 in my opinion was the peak, with the most weapons and features and the best graphics and multiplayer at the time. It may not have been the end of Halo, but it was the conclusion to an epic trilogy.

Oh, and ODST was good too.

You know it does nothing. It did nothing in Halo 3-1, you just did not notice it. Go on Halo 3 and rapid fire at a wall and the bullets get more random. Don't try to deny it. I've shot real guns, I should know.

H2.

halo 2 is the shiznitto

  • 02.20.2011 7:28 PM PDT

most people will vote halo 2. I vote halo3 though because it had a good campaign, and the maps were the likes of ones i have never seen. of course H3 was the first FPS i had played.

RIP Halo 2

Halo CE had my favorite campaign, while Halo 2 had my favorite multiplayer. But I have to say Halo 2 was my overall favorite because of how much I could just play it and play it. I had so much fun with that game.

A lot of people (not saying myself) consider it to be just an expansion for Halo 3.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Excuse me. You forgot about Halo Wars and Halo 3: ODST. I can't vote now.

Best story: CE and 2
Best multiplayer: 3 or Reach
Best Firefight: ODST
Best Forge: Reach

Overall... its too difficult to decide.

To me it goes in this order-
Also this is just based on the campaign for me because that my favorite part of the halo games.

1. Halo Combat Evolved
Because the Covenant and Flood were both very mysterious and we knew basically nothing about either enemy. Also Halo Combat Evolved had this cool feel to it, it just might be that this was my first halo game and I use to play it a lot when I was younger. I also loved watching the Covenant and Flood fight each other.

2. Halo Reach
To me it has the best engine and the most varied covenant(although I miss the flood). Reach also has very good graphics.

2. Halo 2
I really didn't like how the elites split from the Covenant. The elites were the main military force and with the elites gone the covenant wasn't the same. To me this is tied with Halo Reach because Halo 2 really had an amazing campaign.

3. Halo 3
I really didn't like the elites not being in the Covenant(as stated above). Either way I still love Halo 3 it just didn't have that feel to it that Halo Combat Evolved had, never the less it is still an amazing game. This game was also kinda emotion at the end even though Chief didn't die.

Friends before pixels.

Halo: 3 kept my attention the longest.

Halo: 2 had the funnest campaign.

Halo: CE had the best storyline.

  • 02.26.2011 8:53 PM PDT

1. Halo CE, Love being paranoid about the explosive ordinance on the ground and still fun to enjoyafter the 11th time through.
2. Reach, best graphics and AI but was too harsh on the cannon with the changes. Can shoot a Zealot in the head from afar but he cant see me so it does not move into cover was the only flaw in the AI that I found. Still can't turn on the night club.

Legendary is hard but like CE just use the correct weapon and amour combo's and it is easily done. after 15 deaths that is just to get to the elevator.

3.Halo 2 Arbitors story is great but didn't find myself repeating them too often. Art was good but felt to linear.

4. Halo 3 Back to semi open world but was short, And I didn't get an acheivment for saving StarBuck voice character ( female marine scripted to die every time on the cartographer by sticky from a grunt)

ODST is a bit of a departure and I cannot rate it fair compaired to the main stream Halo's. It is excelent in its own right and was poorly reviewed in Aus by suposed gamers who could not even find a shot gun if I bashed them in the face with it.

I am a practicing traditional Catholic.

Halo Reach. It was one of the most emotionally hitting (perhaps only beaten by Halo 2 on that) and had the best gameplay.
Also Firefight and forge were at their best.
Peace.

Combine the awesome Reach multiplayer with the badass fast Halo 3 gameplay.

*waits impatiently for Halo 4*

Can someone please explain to me why Halo CE's storyline is so passionately loved by people? It really wasn't that impresssive other then being the intro to the series. I find it to be the weakest of the games second only to Reach's. Nothing really happened in Halo 1 alone other then nuking the Ring.

Your resident explosives and heavy ordinance expert, at your service.

To me, Halo: CE. mostly for nostalgia but also because it has that quintessential Halo feel to it.
