Well, my dibs are Heroic; it even says its how Halo meant to be played. But then again, anything is possible.

For example; if an Elite punched you in a Halo Novel - you are a a Spartan - which difficulty would simulate Halo Canon?

overall heroic, but some situations are suited for different difficulties, fights with elites sjould be on legendary, fights with grunts more lines up with normal or easy.
if you get what i mean

a fuel rod in canon would completely gut a pelican

heres a good example.

in the books it shows a squad of spartans killing 2000 grunts without breaking a sweat, but they just barely scrape by killing elites in hand to hand combat and often have to use tricks their armor can preform like locking certain joints to gain leverage etc.

[Announcement Trailer] Halo: Forerunner

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

Your dibbs?

I would say Heroic for the Halo trilogy, and Legendary for Reach. It isn't that Reach is easier than the first 3, but as the difficulty rises the enemies seem to get smarter and more aggressive. In Halo 1 and 2, Legendary meant nearly invincible enemies elites and ridiculously powerful Jackal Snipers. Halo 3 Legendary was a cakewalk compared to 1, 2 and Reach.

legendary with normal level shields and grunts.

Heroic. Otherwise, humanity would have no excuse for losing ground engagements. Legendary makes the gaps between Elites and the Chief too great. They are supposed to be about equal.

Am I supposed to write something funny here?

But didn't UNSC win most of the ground battles? And I have heard that canonically, 4 AR shots kills Elite minor (3 to shields, 1 to body)

For most situations I would say Heroic, but for situations like elites and brutes should be Legendary.

Heroic- "Fight against formidable foes that will truly test your skill and wits; this is the way Halo is meant to be played."

  • 02.20.2011 8:43 AM PDT

Easy with ultra-nerfed Spartans.

  • 02.20.2011 9:00 AM PDT

Heroic for the difficulty of enemies. Easy for the dominance of Spartans.

  • 02.20.2011 9:08 AM PDT

None.

For damage they can do to you, heroic or legendary.
For intelligence of enemies, legendary.
For how easy it is for you to kill, none. AR kills an Elite in a burst or two. Not the half-a-magazine-on-easy rubbish.
For how quick you can moves and how you can dominate a battlefield. None. Spartans are insanely quick and agile not to mention the one-handed battle rifle head shots while sprinting between cover.

I generally play it on Normal. It has a good balance between difficulty and your superiority over your enemies.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Easy. It makes up for all the limitations imposed by it being a videogame and makes you actually seem like a super-soldier.

"Fight against formidable foes that will truly test your skill and wits; this is the way Halo is meant to be played."
Description from Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.

Putting much emphasis on the
"This is the way halo is meant to be played" part

  • 02.20.2011 11:46 AM PDT

I'd have to say Legendary.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

As much as it pains me, Heroic. Game canon overrates book canon, unfortunately. Regarding game physics and weapon mechanics that make up campaign, in books, I prefer things much better. The Covenant weapons hurt. Bad. A single plasma bolt from a Plasma Rifle could burn through a marine's body armor and scorch his skin. Compared to in game, where it takes a few seconds worth of shots to do significant damage.
