Subject: Is it possible that Gravemind will return in Halo 4?

If the Flood is still somewhere else in the Galaxy, like the other halo rings or forunner colonies, that means they can make a new Gravemind who will have the memories of the others before him. So do you think he could return in Halo 4?
Would you want him to return?

Please correct me if my facts aren't straight.

Very possible seeing as it seems The Flood can produce one very fast, under the course of a year.

But more important question, will there be Halo 4?

Sure, there is no proof that the Gravemind was Unique or that the Flood can't reproduce one, In Fact in Halo Legens Origins, it shows flood massing consciousness into one being. Thats how they create a Gravemind.

To be honest, I was upset that you never were able to have a boss battle with The Gravemind. I think that would of been WAY better than fighter Spark at the end of Halo 3.

Well, I'm not sure if the Gravemind would have the exact same memories as the Gravemind you killed in Halo 3. But one thing is for certain, the Flood still exists.

Even the Gravemind warns the Chief that he is delaying the inevitable. Guess we'll find out in Halo 4, I really want to fight the Gravemind as the final boss, a wasted opportunity in Halo 3.

I believe Gravemind was originally supposed to be a boss in Halo 2, but the level was cut and replaced with the cutscene.

Source.

I doubt the gravemind was created in under a year on delta halo <_<.

Either way, It wouldn't be the same gravemind because that one was on the ark, and the halo fired destroying him.

B: It's have to be a hefty infestation with lots of bio-mass to create a gravemind.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

"Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow. Defeat is simply the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved... but you imposed." ~ Gravemind

Sorta hints that this isn't the end of him, but is merely delaying his inevitable return at some point.

Then again, seeing as gravemind is a flood form, and not a person, it's just a statement.

"You may kill me, but there will be another gravemind."

I lol'd at the absurd miscommunication that occurs whenever dibbs post something. Perhaps his brain is so highly evolved that he can no longer clearly communicate with lesser life forms, even among his own species.

I think that question depends on what the Gravemind actually is. While most signs point to it being a collective conscious, in both it's words and actions it seems to be a very singular entity - a master controlling slaves as opposed to a voice for the collective.

Additionally, we don't know how a Gravemind (or the Gravemind) is/was formed. Is it an immortal being that can't actually be killed? Is it a being that can be killed but that has an immortal consciousness that can be transfered over to a new Gravemind? Is it something that can be killed and doesn't have an immortal consciousness (in which once a new one is formed it doesn't have any memories of the old one)? Also, the kickier, can there be more than one Gravemind at any given time?

We don't know the answer to these questions but hopefully more will be flushed out in the coming Greg Bear novels.

This man, this man right here put it so eloquently that I actually cancelled my own 2000+ word long post.
/slow clap for respect

:)
The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

It's possible, but it wouldint be the same Gravemind, so it most likely wouldint recognize the Chief.

Good work dibbs089, that's something every Cryptum reader should be thinking as well.

Oddly, this is familiar to you, as if it were from an old dream, but you can't exactly remember...

Another infestation? Not under my watch.
But I will NOT let you Humans activate the Rings; If I must cut a Reclaimer's arm off to use it myself, I will.

Never read the Encyclopedia, or Cryptum, did you?

First off, the Gravemind has no central being; the venus flytrap thing in Halo 2 was a vovalization organ it used to speak. The Gravemind exists as a consciousness, passed down from body to body. It is also heavily implied he's a Precursor.

The Encyclopedia states the Gravemind shares the same memories of its last incarnation. The Flood itself is its body; making a true boss battle impossible.

So it IS the same person each time, with a new "body".
