Subject: Precursors=Biological Relative of District 9 Prawns? -Lots of Spoilers

Yesterday I watched the move District 9 on Youtube for the first time in a while. I had recently read Halo: Cryptum, and realized that the look of the Prawns seems like a more humanoid version of the captive (which is apparently the last precursor) from Cryptum. They're both insect-like humanoids with advanced technology, and District 9 was what came out of the Halo movie Neil Blokamp was supposed to direct. Could the look of Cryptum's Precursor be loosely based on the look of the Prawns? Or could Bungie have given us a semi-spoiler in disguise?

Weird, coincidental connection. No meaning, in my opinion.

Didact's Reprisal -
Now is the time of our unworlding
One final effort is all that remains
And I am not afraid
We shall fulfill our promise
We fight for the grace of the Mantle
And this time none of you will be left behind

Well, if we never know, then there's really no need for a discussion. It could be, it couldn't be. That sums it up.

That's not what i meant.

I always thought that they sounded like the Prawns, I should have seen the connection. Probably a little something as a treat to Halo fans.

i imagine they look kinda like hybrids in starcraft. starcraft is so a rip off of halo, i just played it a few days ago, the xel'naga, protoss and zerg are total ripoffs of halo (xel'naga=precursor, protoss=forerunner, zerg=flood) and hybrids/dark voice are the prisoner. but i guess blizzard forgot how to write a good story after focusing 6+ years on multiplayer (wow)

Well, District 9 was originally supposed to be the Halo movie, it's possible the Precursors might have been appearing in some capacity, or the idea for the Prawns influenced the Captive's appearance.

I can just picture Mechalord reading his post to a group of Halo fans at GameStop in real life: loud, halting speech, his pimpled face turning red with anger at weak noobs, wildly gesticulating and banging the counter to drive his point home, stroking his tiny teen mustache like Halo Hitler. You need a girlfriend buddy.

I'm pretty sure Starcraft was around for a while before Halo came out...

The captive actually looks like a sea scorpion but bipedal, i doubt it looks like the prawns.

1) Starcraft came before Halo (although I'm not sure about the units, if they were only in SC2, then they came after Halo).
2) The Reaver looks like the Alien Queen from Aliens, just with glowing blue lines.

the story of xel'naga, protoss and zerg relationship came after halo, starcraft ii introduced those ideas, including the dark voice(=the prisoner). the precursors have existedi n the story bible for more than a decade. sorry
