Subject: The majority of the halo community don't know what halo really is

What the hell is a signature?

Halo isn't your K/D, or your total matches, or your kills, or your stats in general. Thats not Halo. I know, I will get links to my stats saying that I don't know what halo is. But if bungie hadn't put stats into halo, there would be no cheaters, derankers, boosters, or hackers. People would play for fun and the community would not be bragging and being ignorant. What do you think?

EDIT- Remember in CE, after you just crashed in the lifeboats, and you get out to this beutiful world? That was a moment that captured what real halo was. Then also just meeting up with a friend and playing some slayer at like 1 o'clock in the morning? And still having fun? That was another halo moment.

Those are IMO, so if you have another one just let me know

I totally agree. There are too many quote-unquote "Halo fans" that don't realize that Halo is a song by Beyonce. Jeez. C'mon, people.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I think that this post has nothing to do with the fiction of Bungie games.

Yeah sorry bout that. This seem like a thread for halo in general, not specific games. Sorry

Completely wrong.

derankers, boosters
Obviously you can't boost if you don't have a rank.
Posted by: XDeltaxHunterX
hackers
Also wrong.
If it's possible to cheat or hack, there will be people who cheat and hack.

well, there would be no need to hack would there?

This is why I always try and play with friends and just do what feels fun :) Win/Loss comes second or third or w/e. Fun first :)

There's no "need' to hack now (or ever), but that's never stopped anyone before.

The 'alien'ness of the Halo rings, when I first played Halo CE, everything was a mystery and I didn't know what was going on, besides trying to figure out what the marines/keyes were.

But I suppose its just being exposed to the universe for the first time is what really made me enjoy the story.

  • 02.21.2011 8:44 PM PDT

I breathe BR, not kidding homie.

but that's the beauty of halo, it's not just singled out to one, it's both, there is multiplayer and campaign both with their own experiences, that's the halo I know, not just campaign, not just multi, but both

Well if there were no stats to impress other players then why would people cheat. You're right, people could still hack

I am Godlike!

Back when Halo CE was the best thing since sliced bread, people hacked ALL THE TIME.

BLAM!

Awesome post OP,

You got it right.

  • 02.22.2011 10:10 AM PDT

it's a -blam!- epic sci-fi shooter saga is what it is, not a hyper-competitive, perfectly clean gaming environment

people just need to play it for the epicness and the madcap violence and cool alien guns

I agree. There are people hacking Halo PC and there are no ranks or stats there.

Merry Christmas.

Happy New Year.

Very true, that's when Halo is what it really is. I have all of them and I know by now.

  • 02.22.2011 10:43 AM PDT

Without stats and progression, wtf is the point in playing online.
I cant play and online game and get no reward for doing certain things. Visible stats and leaderboards are just two forms of rewards for being good.
Remember in CE, after you just crashed in the lifeboats, and you get out to this beutiful world? That was a moment that captured what real halo was.

True but thats campiagn, not Competitive multiplayer.

Nope, people would still cheat. If anything, it might be harder to catch cheaters without stats, in a way. Think about it, half the time people get banned for cheating and try to play innocent. One can just take a look at their stats to prove that there's no way, (as an example), that said person won 30 games in a row with a K/D of 25+. Just an example of course, but do you see what I'm getting at? They help provide evidence and insight into what kind of player someone is. Some people just take stats too seriously and create a bad atmosphere.

Halo is everything that has been discussed in this thread and so much more. More importantly Halo is something different to everyone who plays it: some like campaign and the vast story that Bungie has put together, some like Multiplayer and the thrills of beating a team in CTF with nearly no time left, some like forging new and expansive worlds.

The point I'm trying to make is that the community enjoys different parts of Halo.

Extremely valuable point. It's pretty hard to say what is and is not "Halo." It all seems like opinion when people try to say that anything in the games is or is not Halo
