You guys do realize that Scarabs are the same species has Hunters right?

The worms can be as large as they want.

Odd One Out was a parody. Why does no one know this?

I'll counter your paragraphs bit by bit.

1) Artistic liscense.

2) Parody.

3) Elites were always samurai-like with their codes of honor.

4) Generalizing cultures you do not understand isn't smart.

This guy is exactly right. Smart stuff right here.

Pretty much what these guys have been saying.

1) Odd One Out is non-canon, it was made as a satirical take on the Halo universe.

2) Sangheili culture has always been said to be akin to that of Feudal Japan, there's no evidence to claim otherwise so it is a perfectly canonical interpretation.

Urgh, I hate it when people bring up the massive Hunters.

Hunters are made up of a conglomeration of worms, they can assume any shape, size and/or form they wish. Even with artistic licence it still makes sense.

Also that epic fight with Arbiter vs the Covenant was a metaphor to show the lengths the Arbiter would go for his revenge, not actually a real fight.

As was the size of the Hunters: it symbolizes intense power, not their actual size.

Actually, if you've read Cryptum, those "japaneese" buidings are Human built. Not forerunners.

I never saw that one

In fact....I have never finished Halo Legends

I can't bring myself to finish the whole thing

I find myself critiquing every aspect, to the point where it gives me a headache

However, I did really dig Origins 1, Barely any CGI, no over the top action, it was telling a story.

Thanks for summarising a topic so well, of which I couldn't bare to waste another breath on.

Sounds fishy to me... the distance apart from which Halo Legends and Halo Cryptum were released... was quite a while. Feels like a retcon.

Then, they take full advantage of the episode with the Elite homeplanet. They try to relate the Elites to them (the Japanese) and I guess they sort of are close together in culture. Mainly the whole behavior of elite society (honor system, etc.). They also threw in a Hunter that was what, 200 feet tall? Lets not forget they put SAMURAI ARMOR on an elite and gave him a KATANA. They make the fight scenes far too anime style, which interferes with the Halo Universe. Then they give the Elite homeland a Japanese environment.

Harka (the Elite that was wearing Samurai armor.) was not using a katana. It was an large, iron version of an energy sword.
And besides, Sangheili culture is very similar to the culture of feudal Japan.

So, they never said those ruins were forerunner <_<.

Also, as shown, we've had some things just released to us that have been present in canon for a long while. Like Miranda's parentage. She came in during Halo 2, and we just now with Reach's release learned her mother was Halsey. Who knows what things are in the Halo bible that we don't know...

Ever hear of the Halo Story Bible?

It portrays all events in the Haloverse, it is the entire story and universe in one collection. The time difference between Cryptum and the Halo 3 Besterium was 3 years, almost 4, but the Besterium spoke of the Builders and the Precursors.

So it was all there, all planned out. Halo gives small tidbits of info, small allusions, that pertains to larger events that are explained later. It gives us something to talk about.

Samurai and Ninjas are just as cool as Knights. And Japans culture is way more interesting than Medieval Europe's, imo, because very little has changed in the Western World culture wise, and it's far more interesting because it's so "alien".

And the Elites have been akin to Japanese Samurai for ages now, they've been developing that way almost since the books first started giving them a point of view.

Rise from Ruin...

Ignorance cannot be reasoned with,guys.

Its the product of an undeveloped mindset, and an unbalanced id/ego. It needs to be changed, fixed, through education.

This kid(who will now likely argue that he's an adult)is obviously an ignorant little sob, spouting his ghestapo propaganda....then waving the american flag to justify it. Makes me sad. Sad that he will have kids and teach them the same someday. Sad my taxes go to putting this kid through school, and he wont seize such an opportunity to learn better practices. (I bet in japan, that crap dont fly). Nothing good can come of the rest of this thread. Its like a temper tantrum. I hope the mods lock it.

Frankie says that Hunters have that size:

Glad you liked it! Hunters were huge, but correct. Hunter size and deployment varies by use, gravity, terrain, etc And there are Hunter forms WAY bigger than those...

I hope 343 uses those kind of hunters in future halo games.

At no point in the Babysitter were those ruins ever so much as hinted to be anything, all we knew was that it was built by a race that predated current humans and the Covenant.
