Subject: Halo 3 and ODST for the PC

Hello my fellow PC gamers i was just wondering, ever since i got halo 2 for the PC, if anyone knows if Bungie will transfer Halo3 and ODST to the PC and, in the future for the game is still far too new, Halo Reach:The most epic ownage game in gaming history. Also if Bungie hasn't planned to and happens to come by this thread please consider doing so.

BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

1. Install Steam
2. Buy the Valve Complete Pack.
3. Buy Garry's Mod

Forget about any Halo games ever being on PC.

No one of us knows if a new Halo is going to be ported to PC. Bungie/ Microsoft hasn't made any revelation about it yet.

I dont think Halo 3 or any Halo made for the 360 will be ported to PC. The reason is Hardware... The Xbox's processor is PPC-based, while PCs use x86 or x64... so most of the code would need to be rebuilt form zero... That alone would make M$ think it twice before investing in such a project. The other option M$ would have is to make a PPC emulator to run the PPC code on the PC... but that would take too much resources and a pretty powerful pc.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Halo is NOT coded in PPC ASM. Look at Fable III and GoW PC, they got PC ports.

It's coded in C++ or C#, which are the required languages for offical 360 programming.

LOL Fable II and GoW got ported because of their demand in the PC market which = lots of money... seeing that Halo 2 did not do well in sales, M$ logically declined porting H3 to the PC. They would not get enough money for it in sales, to justify re-coding it. And yes, you are right, they are coded in C#, but as you obviously don't know, the Xbox has specific functions, large quantities of code can NOT be just copy/pasted and compiled for a PC, specifically due to the processor architecture differences (as I mentioned before), and other hardware specs.

Im not saying its impossible, its just improbable. Remember all large software companies, like M$, talk profit.

no profit=no game

Microsoft released a cheap p.o.s port of Halo 2.

The fact is, they don't want Halo to sell on PC, and this is evidenced by the lengths they took to sabotage the Map Editor, and the fact the game doesn't even run well and has an unnecessary OS requirement.

They ported those specific functions to the PC. Like XAudio, Xinput, etc.

Guess you meant Fable 3, although there's no PC port release date in sight. They've missed their chance, again.

No, they're not coded in C#. The CPUs might use different instruction sets but that's not to say that the programs can't be ported to different architectures fairly easily. Obviously it's going to vary from game to game and as outsiders it's hard to go beyond speculation.

Halo 2 performed poorly because it was used as a marketing tool for Vista and GFWL. Despite being two years late to the scene and rather lacklustre, Halo PC proved that there was a market for a PC port of the franchise. One source claimed sales in excess of 3.5 million after two years on the market (no idea about the accuracy).
