See you starside.

Shameless Beta qualifying info!: I have owned and played (sometimes to death) every Bungie game since Marathon. (Did not finish Pathways, Forge (M2) called to me). Marathon 2 remains my all time favorite game. Have built tons of maps on every generation of Forge - used to tedious work. I take an organized and analytical approach to everything. I still own the Action Sack and rock a sunflare tattoo. Big on world domination.

Yes it is real, no I'm not embarassed!!!

It's real? Wow. Not like, Henna or anything? Jeez. For someone who has a permanent seventh column symbol on their epidermis, I haven't seen you around very much.

  • 12.19.2005 6:02 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Lazy Link

A real tatoo of the 7th Column; that's dedication. I would have picked a Marathon symbol or something related to Myth if I was to get a Bungie-related tatoo. I'm also suprised that you don't spend more time here...BTW I really like your Xbox 360 Marathon faceplate.

How did you do the Marathon symbol on the 360? Paint? Sharpie?

The Marathon symbol was pretty simple. First I tried with a stencil, but a rogue gust of wind absolutely ruined it. It came out as a big, fuzzy circle. I took a risk and applied some paint thinner, and you may be pleased to know that it works pretty well without damaging the case at all. I applied it with a sock and it all came off, even after drying.

After that I just used the same method I used for the caution stripes on the front: masking tape. I made a complete layer with tape, then drew the outline using the masking tape roll, the spray paint bottom, and the spray paint cap bottom :P (I'm surprised the proportions worked out) Anyway then I lightly cut along the lines with a razor, peeled 'em off, and spray painted it. It dried in like two minutes, I carefully peeled the tape off, and voila.

In response to not being here: Yeah, I dont post alot here for two reasons:

One, this forum as a whole is so ridiculously saturated with morons that it is a pain to browse. Its not like I blame Bungie or the level headed posters; I just dont care to deal with the flamers.

Two, forums bother me because there is always much more to read than I have time to!

I used to frequent HBO, but lately I just dont have much time. I would love to be more involved here, so maybe I'll give it a shot. I've been a HUGE fan since Marathon 2 and have played allllmost every one of their games, but I guess I have always just been content to know I was such a ludicrously, laughably big fan rather than show it :p

Anyway, be excellent to each other

It seems everyone likes the 360 better than the tatoo.

I'd rather have a Myth one. >_>

There was a picture of a MC tatoo out there a while ago. I dunno if it was real, though.

  • 12.19.2005 8:31 PM PDT

That tattoo looks like its fake, sorry! Perhaps it is the picture, but I have tattoos and have seen quite a few and that one just doesn't have me convinced. If it is in fact real, my apologies. I'd like to see a better picture.

To be honest it does look kind of crappy. I supposedly went to the best place on Oahu, but the guy didnt seem too into it. The best I can do is assure you it is indeed real; I wish it looked better too, but oh well. It looks fine from like anywhere farther than a few feet though, and its the thought that counts! :p

I dont know much about tattoos, after I got this I kept it moist most of the time with Vaseline intensive care lotion (water + glycerin based, non scented etc). I let it air once in a while and kept it lotioned + saran wrapped during work. Thats what the place told me to do, so I dunno.

I've never liked tattoos. But, that's one of the more tolerable ones I've seen. I never played Marathon, but that's pretty cool.

That looks like marker on your 360...

  • 12.20.2005 8:51 AM PDT

Is it black? Everybody takes ink differently and you might need a touch-up in the future, most black pieces do. The shop should do it for free - but it is nice to tip the artist.

Thanks Erlenmeyer, I'll probably look into that. That grumpy guy will probably charge me again though haha.

SgtSTFU, I'm not sure why you think it looks like marker on my 360, but believe me, it wouldve been much harder to do it with a pen than with spray paint. The little distortions on the Marathon symbol come from the paint sinking into the grooves where it says XBOX 360.

Anytime you have a tattoo with a lot of solid colour (i.e. no shading) it's not uncommon to need a touch-up. This is particularly true for black which has a lot of contrast with your skin tone. I'm assuming this is a new tattoo? If so make sure you wait (6 months) before you attempt any touch-ups to prevent any potential scaring.

Don't listen to what anyone else says about your tattoo - if it is meaningiful to you and you are happy with it everyone else can get bent!

Impressive dedication! I like the Marathon symbol on the 360, and, while I normally don't like tatoos, that one looks all right. Well done.
