The thing is, a lot of the best default Halo Reach players and some of the biggest default Halo 3 Matchmaking warriors.

Gotta love those verb-less sentences.

An "unreliable" game occurs when more than 50% of the players in the game do not finish (DNF).

It usually occurs when team A is dominating team B so all but 1 player of team B quits. Frustrated that they have to search for the last member of Team B, someone from team A quits... and then the game is unreliable.

Unfortunately, it also happens when a Nerd decides to use a distributed denial of service to forcefully remove the current host from the game but somehow sends everyone else out with the host. Or said Nerd can remove individual players one by one until more than 50% of the players that started the game have left and the game is unreliable.

*I know this because i know some nerds that do this*

EDIT: they NEVER count towards your rank, hence why they are called unreliable.

a true 'unreliable' does NOT count towards your rank... FACT as previously stated by Bungie. Witnessed firsthand in LW when a 50 that (shall remain nameless) made 6 straight games I played with him unreliable just so he wouldn't lose his garbage 50.

Unreliables have a chance to count, but they might not...

Achronos stated that

Pretty sure I've had a game where the whole opposing team quit and I still went up.

Maybe I don't know what you guys mean, but that's because I couldn't be bothered reading the whole thread.

  • 02.22.2011 7:50 PM PDT

Having the whole opposing team quit does not necessarily mean the game is unreliable. If that were the case half of the doubles games would be unreliable.

But like was already stated, this topic is pretty much irrelevant now... so i'm done.

It has to be over 50% to not count I think, 5 out of 8, 3 out of 4.

achronos himself has come out and said that unreliable games can count towards your rank.

i don't know how you can claim something that's clearly wrong as a fact, but it was a nice try.
