So, its rumoured to be in production, I personally am glad to see this, but, to what extent they are remaking is a bit worrying...

For example, why is it that whenever I listen to the brilliant Halo Soundtrack, all the memories of so many awesome moments playing the campaign and multiplayer with friends come flooding back?

And yet, every soundtrack after that fails to live up to the scope and mood that the CE gameplay and soundtrack created. I guess its because its the perfect game and the perfect score, I only hope the rumoured remake recaptures a bit of this...

Really if I think about it, ODST is the only game to truely live up to Combat Evolved since its the only game since then that heavily relied on mood of the game, and the soundtrack supports it. I dont know why H2, H3 or Reach misses the mark for me...

But anyway, what would the community like to see in the CE Remake, if it is indeed happening? To me, all I would like to see upgraded graphics, thats it, and of course live support.

Whether this means using the Reach engine I dont know, but to me H: CE had a unique and specific feel that no other game had, and if they applied the Reach engine to that, I think it'd kill that a bit and in the sense of the word, remaking it, where I think it should be more or less restored instead.

It it aint broke, why fix it.

So, Restoration? or Remake?

Dark Neptune, a young amateur astronomer whose gaming life is no different from other teenagers of his age, though he controls it more strictly then others.

Halo: CE was entirely about the Ringworld.

Halo Wars + ODST Soundtrack does make it sound more like Halo.

Halo 2, 3 and Reach tried to go Epic, COD-style with it's soundtrack. So ya, you kinda get the trend.

But at least Reach's soundtrack isn't too bad, The Pillar of Autumn Suite is quite good, save the last 1/5 of the track. :P

I'm an Anarchist. I don't need a government to be a good person, but I'm glad it's here because some of you clearly do.

Same story without any "wtf" additions. Perhaps some extra levels derived from William C. Dietz The Flood, but nothing outlandish.

I'd like to see a lot of the the Halo: Wars vehicles in cutscenes or as AI controlled support ships in large-scale battles. I wouldn't mind seeing some Brutes, engineers, drones, and skirmishers. A couple mongoose-based race type levels would be neat, where it's you, some objectives, and a timer.

Basically nothing that we haven't at least thought about before, but not like Reach, where it's a whole new cast of characters and a story pulled out of nowhere that needs to be beat with a hammer in order for it to fit the canon.

I wouldn't mind playing as Johnson in his escape off the ring.

I would like to see the engineers, maybe the brutes, but the engineers were meant ot be in CE

Maybe not so much playing Johnson escaping the ring, but maybe escaping the weapons cache in the swamp like the Graphic Novels shows

Sir Arch-Duke Ferdinand II Jr. Sr. III Phd.

Reach and Halo Legends are my favorite soundtracks. Though Halo Legends is mostly just previous Halo tracks recorded with better audio and direction

an exact remake, plus:

- 4 player online co-op
- all the multiplayer maps with huge forge capabilities
- nothing added from the newer halo games

If the sacred icon suite remake is an example, then yes I agree with you

also, concidering CE never had matchmaking, 343 or whoever could add to that what they like. For instance, newer vehicles, weapons, armour permutations and such.

However, aslong as they don't let added things in to the campaign and keep it as close to the oridgional as posible, I will love it.

But the netcode did exist, it was only because Xbox Live wasnt around back then Bungie took it out, although it did reappear later on, Halo PC

I wouldnt really like to new weapons, just keep the old ones, they were so perfect, specially the legendary plasma rifle <3

I doubt it will have online matchmaking seeing as it(the remake) isn't the next big halo(halo 4). It will probably come with a multiplayer disc for Reach, similar to what ODST did.
