And what do you mean, "what exposed engine"? That huge grate at the rear of the turret is the engine, and one guy with a frag grenade can take it out from there.

this, "one guy" is augmented and has mjolnir armor

The Challenger tank has a built in kettle, for making hot cups of tea. Therefore it wins.

This is a stupid question but.....does it really?

the Scorpion isn't a Main Battle Tank like we have them today, hell soon in reality there won't be any 70 ton tanks, because the age of armour is coming to an end in favour of active counter-measures and new, exotic types of armour that is massively lighter and more effective against weapons used against modern tanks. don't think the Scorpion can be classed as such, because it is dropped onto the battlefield by a Pelican, surely that makes it fit more into the category of Infantry Fighting Vehicles in modern battles, at least in terms of deployment. potentially have a maximum weight for carriage as well to consider, no point in a super powerful tank if it cannot be deployed by a Pelican.

also Space Shuttle tiles will not survive temperatures like the surface of the Sun, since temperatures on re-entry are only in the region of ~1,700*C which is much beyond the melting point of the shuttles aluminium framework, but a clear amount cooler than the ~5,500*C surface of the Sun. plus its worth noting these tiles are really really fragile and can be easily damaged by simple hitting them. so not really very useful for combat situations.

also the Scorpion was never designed to fight the Covenant, its Titanium armour would have been plenty effective against small arms and explosives used by insurgents, remember the humans were fighting what could have been the start of a full on civil war, against insurrectionists. also worth noting is what someone said earlier, the humans were focusing more on colonisation and expansion, rather than weapons research so when the Covenant appeared they were caught with their pants down so to speak, given more preparation I think the humans could have put up a much better fight overall.

The reason the weapons are unrealistic is because when Bungie made CE those are the weapons they made, and they probably didn't anticipate such a huge fanbase, nor did they expect the technological advances over the next decade. I'm sure if Bungie could have seen into the future in 2001, they would have changed Halo, but they can't so this is a pointless argument.

It's not like Bungie or 343 can just retcon all of the weapons and say "lol guise sry bout tht" because then half of you guys would get mad at them for "ruining the canon" again.

2)Why do some think the modern day tank is superior?
They aren't.

On a related note, ******'s mom has really nice boobs, and it doesn't take much booze or encouragement to get her to let the puppies out of the pen...if you know what I mean...

I noticed that a while ago.

don't worry I am not that bothered about 'canon' as long as it makes sense, been saying for a while to people that the Halo Universe needs a total reboot, from the ground up to get rid of all these dodgy things larking about.

The scorpion is classed as a MBAT or Main Battle Artillery Tank. The UNSC MBT is the Cobra. Also are we forgeting about the Rhino that thing has a 320mm cannon, or a few can fire plasma. And there is always the grizzly with its dual 120mm cannon

I'll look up the halopedian page for Cobra's later, but I thought those were considered the mobile artillery alongside Rhinos, with the scorpion being MBT. (Because the cobra had the gauss cannons and the railgun when deployed.)

Grizzlys can't truly count, as Forge personally made the few that are on SoF. I guess for terms of tanks we could include them though...

Edit: Just checked, the Cobra is listed as Anti-armor/anti-structure. It's under the catergory (Self-propelled artillery)I'd honestly considered it a light tank if labeled as a tank, not MBT.
