I bought Halo: Legends -- haven't watched it yet. I wanted to read all of the books first. Opinions on that? I've heard mixed reviews. Seems people either love it or hate it, and for some it's both.

If I were you I would return Legends if you have any love for the Halo story. It tramples canon and made Halo look ridiculous.

OP, read Cryptum, it's a great book. Also read Evolutions. These short stories are, for the most part, excellent. They give you insight into smaller parts of the universe that you don't normally get to see.

Do not listen to this guy, it does not trample on canon at all, it has a few minor inconsistancies due to artistic interpretation, so I wouldn't regard every single detail as one hundred percent canon, especially not how people look. Ff you are apprehensive about Halo Legends, I'd suggest watching them on Netflix (if you have it) first. But as for me, I loved them all, except for Origins Part II, that was the only one that I felt really sucked

Also, odd one out is not canon. Some people seem to think legends treats it as if it was canon.

Some people hate legends simply because of the word "anime."

In all honesty, Legends is good. Some parts I liked more then others (I personally didn't fully like the art style of the duel.) But yes, if you take certain things as artistic interpretation, and not 100% every detail is canon, you'll be fine.

Halo legends didn't ruined canon like haters claim, maybe only a few little things but that's it.

I challange the haters to prove how legends "ruined canon"

I loved The Flood.

I like how parts of it follow Chief and parts of CE, but I also love how it shows what else was happening on the Ring.

I liked how it showed Chief as not the unstoppable force people describe him as. It should his troubles and thoughts, and also showed what happened between the levels.

Liked how they described the Marine's actions, the warthog convoy, the guest appearance of a cyclops-like suit (In the PoA raid loading gear.)

"That's a ridiculous question."
"False. Master Chief."
"Well, that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought."

They are amazing. Absolutely wonderful. Well worth the money if you're a Halo fan. Turned me from a pretty big fan to a disgustingly obsessed fan. I don't know how I feel about this. Haha.

Is Legends something I should watch AFTER Cole and Cryptum? Or can it be started any time?

Having not read Cryptum, I wouldn't know. You can watch it any time as the different episodes take place on a scattered range of time.

Though, Crpytum has some details that make one of the episodes make sense from what I've heard.

Hmmmm, I'm going to wait for a nice rainy day! Thanks for the info everyone.

You can watch Legends at any time you want because the episodes are set at different times, but I would suggest going to tor.com the publisher of Cryptum and reading the first chapter there that way you will know why the buildings in The Babysitter are there and look the way they do.

Part lobster. Part fish. Part number. Add that all up and you've got a Intrepid Legendary Member deserving of congratulatory remarks and praise. Three years is a long time, good sir.

The Halo books are good light reads. No real thematic depth, complex characters or amazing plot twists, but good fun anyway.

I'm not sure about Cryptum, I haven't read it yet.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The Cole Protocol was one of my favorite. I loved it.

Cryptum starts off pretty slow. It got boring and I didn't feel like reading it. But, I stuck with it and it got better, so far.

Honestly you have to read Cryptum. Everything you thought you knew is about to be shaken.

Yeah and theres still another two to go!

smart, interesting, seems out of place.

Official fan of Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, (Problem with that?) Halo, and Bungie, also a total gaming junkie.

I've read TFoR, Onyx, Cryptum, all of the Evolutions stories, First Strike, and Cryptum. You MUST read Cryptum.

It doesn't have many twists, although the few it has will punch you in the face. You need to buy it.
