"Shall we let the Flood consume our holy city? Turn High Charity into another of their wretched hives? No enemy has ever withstood our might. The Flood, too, shall fail."

-Prophet of Truth.

The four hands, two legs, tail, massive beasts. The only difference is that a Precursor has an insect like head as opposed to having a popular wrestler/actors head for a head.

Thoughts?

Spiders don't have compact eyes, which if I remember correctly are the types of eyes the Precursor had. I thought of the body of Goro with a fly's head and a spiked tail. To be honest I don't really remember the description all that well.

Goro was the first thing I thought of as well. I watched the movie Mortal Kombat a little while before reading the book and I found it funny that he was described to have four arms.

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.

I really like the Forerunners and Precursors. I already know all about the Forerunners, but not much of the Precursors.

In what book/graphic novel are the Precursors described?

Cryptum.

Not much is known about them though. The only insight we get are that the Precursors were at one with the universe on a spiritual and conscious level that allowed them to transcend physics and create technologies that were indestructable, best described as spiritual gods. Only Neural Physics had any effect on them, and it is these physics that compose of a Halo's pulse effect.

I won't say anymore, but the invincibility of these technologies and the Neural Physics science behind them are a major factor in the story of Cryptum.

I'd definetly pick it up if you haven't already. Everything you know about Halo will hit the fan (in a good way, mind).

Thanks. I definitely will check that out.
From what you described they sound a lot like the transsentient aliens in 2001: A Space Odyssey.
