Subject: Halo PC Window Not Showing...

I JUST bought Halo PC, for nostalgia's sake, and when I got home and installed it and then went to play it, it would play, but it just stayed on my desktop. I can hear the main menu music and can hear the menu sounds that it makes when you drag the mouse over the buttons, but it's not actually showing up.

Any help?

Will post additional info if needed...

You should make sure you have all of the patches for Halo PC and you should also download Halo Custom Edition.

Here's some links:

Also read the Problems FAQ

Hope that helps.

You should also go here once you're thinking of getting Custom Edition.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Halo?

Maybe you could try windowed mode and see if the problem persists.

To use windowed mode: Right click the Halo shortcut and go to properties and edit the target line so that it looks something like this: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -window

Make sure there is a space between -window and "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe"

If windowed mode works then, while in windowed mode, you could try going into settings and adjusting the resolution to the appropriate size of your monitor. Then delete -window at the end of the target line and restart Halo.

Also you could try running Halo in safe mode.

To run Halo in safe mode: right click on the Halo shortcut and select properties and then add -safemode at the end of the target line.

we r?

1) restart your computer, if you didn't after installing
2) right click the icon, hit properties, and add -safemode outside the end quote. it should look like this in the target line:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\halo.exe" -safemode

3) hit apply and hit ok
4) start the game, the game should run in safemode. go to a MP game, join, and play.
5) quit the game, and go back to the desktop. remove the -safemode, and restart the game. it should work.
