Subject: Halo CE: Remake--- Brutes??

Remember Reach...

Okay, so I was just playing FF in Reach and a horrible thought came to me: IF CE IS actually being remade, I hope 343 does not make the horrible decision to include Brutes/ Skirmishers/ Drones in it. Those things weren't in the original and SHOULDN'T be in a remake. What do you all think?

  • 02.24.2011 10:52 AM PDT

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I think if they make any changes at all (other than a new coat of paint) their idiots. Then again the canon has gotten so effed up since CE was released they may try to tie some things together by updating the title.

Remember Reach...

I just want our original sandbox of vehicles, weapons, and enemies, and I'll be happy.

Story must stay the same!
Multiplayer keep classic stuff but add alot of new stuff so it doesn't become Halo PC for Xbox 360.

Oh god I hope not.

If I see Brutes in the screenshots, or any new enemy frankly, I will probably not buy it, because that means they messed with the story too.

But 343 isn't making it. Saber interactive is, and they'll be too afraid to mess with anything.

Due to some e-mail dumbness, my GT is not the one listed on my profile. My GT is the same as my board name.

Not really. The individual Covenant were not important in CE (the terribad novelization aside). The Brutes could easily be fit in.

I wouldn't mind them, just like I didn't mind the idea of them being in Reach. I just hope they actually make them, y'know... interesting to fight. There's potential in the concept - pack-hunting special ops teams with superb emphasis on teamwork. They were a little better in Reach but still didn't live up to the potential, and in H3/ODST they were just Elites Lite.

Positive vibes.

I am sure they will just be changing the graphics, layouts, etc. I do not believe that they will be adding foes from games that came post the original Halo: CE.

  • 02.24.2011 12:33 PM PDT

Will the new CE have armor permutations in multiplayer?
Will the chief have armor abilities? All interesting questions.
And will there be added chapters that were supposed to be in the original but weren't, like a water level?

I belive that the campaign will be the same and the multiplayer will be the same as halo ce but for xbox 360 there will be 4 player online campaign so keep your eyes out

As long as they make them interesting, I'll take em. I don't want them to be bigger versions of grunts the game just throws at you for added challenge.

I wouldn't mind it if they were thrown in there, as long as they are formidable foes (like the bullet sponges they were in Halo 2), and not pathetic like in Halo 3. Actually, I felt like they were too easy to fight in Reach as well.

Oh and I think it's fun when they go berserk, as well.

I really hope they don't add them; My hate of Brutes is immense. I hate them ALMOST as much as I hate skirmishers. Honestly, I might even go as far as NOT buying it if I see brutes in screenies.

If they were to be put in the Halo: CE remake, if it actually does end up happenening, I don't think there should be much focus on them; I think they should be a secondary enemy. You know, only appearing in some of the levels, and more focus on the primary enemies like Elites and Grunts. Oh, and the Flood.

  • 02.24.2011 3:57 PM PDT

I wouldn't mind skirmishers, but if they add Brutes I'm driving down to Sabre's home turf and punching some groins.

  • 02.24.2011 4:29 PM PDT

Have you ever made something good out of something bad? An example would be making a good porridge out of a bad porridge by removing all of the maggots and replacing them with rice.

i personally dont think brutes, skirmishers, or drones would fit well in a CE remake. part of CE's greatness was in its simplicity contrasting with the chaos after the flood. adding in MORE types of covenant would just make thing more confusing.

think about it, beginning: fight evil aliens. there are easy ones, (grunts) leader ones, (elites) tanks, (hunters) and ones you have to think about how your going to kill them (jackels)

adding brutes doesnt really change anything, they would just be a tank/leader hybrid at best, and adding skirmishers or drones would just add an "annoying" class.

I do hope that at least they've upped the AI in the remake. I want to fight intelligent enemies!

I think that they should add them, as the explanation for them not being seen was flimsy at best, and the story never relied on the fact that it was only elites. I wouldn't mind seeing some skirmishers rushing marines in Halo, or watching them flee in terror from my mad warthog skills in Cartographer and Assault, or even walking into their barracks accidentally and rousing a hoard of them. But any more than 4 encounters would make them too common.

Brutes are in the same boat. I can imagine them in one of the passages guarding the way to Captain Keyes, or the security room in the silent cartographer, or just running around trying to secure the Truth and Reconciliation during the flood attack on it, and especially having a brutal smack down with the flood on 343 guilty spark. Heavy security situations, like Thel said in the fluff in the Halo 2 manual thingy. But not too often, just like with the Skirmishers. It would be fun to run around with a BPR again too.

Enginiers would be okay on T&R, AotCR, and Keyes. Maybe The Maw as well.

Finally, drones should only show up on Halo (again rushing marines), Cartographer (once you open the door, there's that ledge to the right, good place for them to be hiding),Two Betrayals and the Warthog run on the Maw.

I am Godlike!

They better not.

If i wanted to shoot retarded monkeys that only ran around meleeing, i would play call of duty.

  • 02.25.2011 9:54 AM PDT

Uh if you played Halo 2 you would know that the Elites did not like the brutes (Bungie's excuse for Bruts realy) and to keep the Elites the Prophits gave them the honor of taking halo so no they would not fit in.

  • 02.25.2011 5:51 PM PDT

If they HAD to add some new things, I'd say Spectre/Revenant and Engineers. Engineers were good in Reach. Oh, and the whole more enemies with more co-op players thing might be nice too.

But no Brutes. Brutes are the bane of my life.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Brutes, Drones or Skirmishers in CE remake.

It wasn't a flimsy explanation; it worked. One single UNSC ship jumped. A fragment of an Elite fleet followed. That's how the Covenant works; each "higher caste" species gets their own ships and fleets. Each ship is not equipped with part-Elite, part-Brute, part-Drone, part-Skirmisher crews (though Grunts and Jackals are subservient species, and thus pretty common). Thus, seeing Brutes on an Elite ship would be strange, to say the very least.

They would be retarded if they did that. I'm pretty sure that th folks as 343i wouldn't do that. A lot of them are people who worked for Bungie on Halo 1.
