Head Down/ Chin Up!

Been reading some posts on here, saw the one on Sanghelli life and what not (good read), and you all seem to know your stuff. So can you fill me in on the whole Jackal/ Skirmisher thing?

I'm attempting to write a fan fic so would love some background info to fill in the gaps!

Ok, so here goes

1 - Why the difference? Are they the same species?
2 - Is Jackal/ Skirmisher just a UNSC designation for the role they play in battle? (Jackals used to do sniping duties in H2 and H3)
3 - What role do the females play with Skirmishers? (Jackal's seem to rate the females quite highly?
4 - Anything else you can help me with?

Cheers fellas!

Same Species. It is like comparing a black man to a white man.

They probably have the same views as the Jackals when it comes to females.

Here are the ranks (though they are debateable)(Not in order):

Minor-Grey
Major-Red
Commando-Green
Champion-Gold
Murmillo-Orange

Battle Doctrines:
Jackals soldiers are more for support. Snipers/Marksmen keep enemies pinned or thin out the ranks. The shielded ones form phalanxes, which help push the friendly line forward.

Skirmishers are more about quick, overwhelming attacks. Run into the enemy lines and cause chaos. It can be described as Blitzkrieg in infantry form. They are more of a shocktrooper than either the Hunters and Brutes.

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

Skirmishers - more health then ordinary Jaackals, plus faster and stronger.

Jackals - Mainly used to keep enemies in position until someone backs them up

My opinions on both of them

It's kind of hard to be of the same species if they evolved in different biospheres.

unfortunately since reach is the newest game and the skirmishers are only in reach, there isn't much written about them yet. That's not to say that there is much written about jackals either but there is an interesting character in The Cole Protocol that is a jackal leader.

No company that uses terms like, head-to-head, man-on-man, action-sack, and mancannon is homophobic.
I supposed that teabagging is.... what, a representation of a new form of colonoscopy?

Yes, Eayn is the home world of the Jackal/Skirmisher species (called Kig-yar). More info here.

1. Jackals and Skirmishers a both subspecies of Kig-yar, mainly from uneven distribution across planets. Jackals are more frail and lightly built, and thus use shields to compensate. Skirmishers however are much more physical, being physically faster, stronger, more resilient and somewhat smarter. Jackals are deployed as Infantry, Scouts, Snipers and Recon units. Skirmishers are heavier built and deployed as Special Operations or Shock Troops.
Whilse Jackals where the 'norm' of their speceis, Skirmishers were created as they populated harsher planets and began to adapt, like african people got Black Skin and Hair to help deal with harsh Sun in their country.
Skirmishers are also considerably higher ranked than most Jackals.

...Woah...That was awesome

Nope, he wasn't the Pirate Prince, my bad. The Pirate Prince was killed by Ripa before he became an Arbiter.

I have to question the ranking structure they have for the Skirmishers.
