I think it's a fine idea. Just turn the Webmaster Control Switch to Off, and say it's for maintenance.

For Carnage, Apply Within.

I have returned from the Untamed Lands. MOAP is dead.

No. I gots nowheres else to go...

Actually, I wouldn't mind. My parents already left for vacation so I was bound to be here. Maybe even talk to some I rarely do on these forums. But if you are gonna disable the relpy button be sure to include the make a topic button and the MSG user one too. Otherwise the mods are gonna have a hell of lot PMs when they get back.

Oh I wish my parents were here... ;(

I like the idea of saying it is closed for "maintenance"...

I'll still be here on Christmas Day. What else have I got to do? Walk round the building?

What facility is this that you speak of? JK

I would be great to see the Moderators have a day off...they do a great job at warding crap heads away and keeping peace. And I think most of us appreciate that. But if it did happen, too many people would complain the next day and it would be WWIII here. 1/2 of the people on B.net would end up getting banned for the week or longer.

Shutting down the forums for a day would be a great Christmas present! Just like all businesses close for Christmas. Go mods!

  • 12.21.2005 5:36 PM PDT

I'm not that active, but never dead.

.....and on the 26th after the pretend 'mantainence' is gone we find out it was a real mantainence update. The search feature is here! Merry Christmas to all! Karma for everyone!

You know, at America's night time, it'll be the morning of the 26th for me. Really, I wouldn't care if I had to moderate on that day. Shutting down the forums is just a bit of a waste of time, I think.

I don't think he should take them off- I think (if possible) that when a member presses one to reply they are bant! For a day! heheheh It would be worth the complaints.

You have been Blacklisted by yourself...NUB
Merry Kwanza.

I agree with TGP. The moderators were picked from more than just one timezone. During the 25th in Australia, it will still mostly be 24th in America and the UK, until the nighttime, and there's barely anyone on during that time anyway so it shouldn't be much of a loss.

Well. You could just make a few more people who ARE going to be around "Temporary Moderators"... Mods for a day. And let the mods who want some christmas break have it. =)

Or, to be supremely evil, make a few new moderators on the 23rd or 24th, who'll then feel obliged to stay around on the 25th.

To be as evil as possible, then take away the moderator powers on the 26th without them knowing about it beforehand.

I like your style.

To conclude, they'd have to be banned in order to prevent public complaints.

Except at this point in time, I'm the only mod not in North America. :/

He lives in a small as heck town in Kentucky(pretty sure it was Kentucky).

What made you think that? As Kilroy said, he lives in a small town in Kentucky (I think it's Greenesville. But I'm probably wrong on that)

I think that even though it would be a nice break for the mods (unless have nothing better to do), the amount of complaining would outweigh any benefit to them. I'll probably be here on Christmas at some point anyway. Because I'll probably have nothing better to do.

Well that Logic just about ends the discussion. The funny thing is, Achronos probably already figured this out.
