Wow, that's a lot to catch up on. I don't even know where to start. There's a lot of stuff. If you play Halo Reach, you should probably look into Hasley's Journal(from the collector's and Legendary editions of Halo Reach). It doesn't reconcile ALL the seeming inconsistancies between the game and The Fall of Reach novel, but it takes care of most and at least helps make sense of it all. The comics have been pretty peripheral, interesting but not too necessary probably. There's some pretty great stuff in the anthology novel Halo Evolutions: Essential Tales from the Halo Universe. Watching the Halo Legends DVD couldn't hurt (and Halsey's Journal helps explain a few things from that too(like the number of Spartan II's)). It has some fun side stories and a sort of history of the Halo universe 2-part story that gives a peak at the Forerunner, as narrated by Cortana post Halo 3. She may however be an unreliable narrator in this short(due to what appears to maybe be the onset of rampancy or the influence of Medicant Bias, or both), so anything she says about the Forerunners or anything previously unknown from other sources, may not be 100% accurate.
If Halo 3 lore isn't something you looked too much into, you should probably go to asendantjustice.com and read all of their articles about the Terminals from Halo 3. That will give you a lot of good Forerunner info that wasn't in the main story of the Halo 3 game, but scattered about in the terminals hidden on the ark in that game.
The biggest peice of lore to probably come out since Halo 3 is the new novel Halo Cryptum. It's the first novel in what is called the Forerunner Trilogy and gives a very VERY revealing look at the Forerunner and their relation ship to humans before the Halos were fired 100,000 years ago.
