So what do you think of urk's ramblings? Is he using symbolism to describe Bungie's new IP? Or did he have one too many appletinis at lunch?

If it's a new IP he's referring to, is he being literal? The idea behind the game would be combining species? Sounds a lot like Spore, so maybe not.

Or was the question representative of the concept? "When you order a bucket of hot wings, what exactly happens to the rest of the chicken?" Could it be reworded to read "When you make a video game, what exactly happens to the parts that don't make the game?" There are plenty of parts of Halo that had to be cut. At one point there was a campaign mission in Reach that involved jacking a Scarab.

Or maybe he was just rambling. I doubt it though. Usually these oddly off-subject rants have hidden meaning. What's your thoughts?

I like Halo games, nuff said.

hopefully.
Maybe 343 is having a game with a COMPLETE sandbox mode where you can edit ANYTHING. Kinda like Custom Edition and Forge in one.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Bungie says nothing by accident. I think Urk has a plan.. he just doesn't know it.

I think what he meant was that it's no use to think about/ expect some info/announcements on the new IP anytime soon because it doesn't exist currently, just like the Chickenpede.

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.

I like the way you think, but I'm not expecting any big reveals anytime soon.

By the way, thanks for mentioning Spore, I think I'll go play that now! (seriously)
=D

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

I'd say that these two paragraphs would probably be right... to a degree.

I don't think it'll be about combining species; Maybe combining genres, in the same way that the Chickenpede was combing a bug and a bird.

The second paragraph I would not hesitate to say that it's right: no doubt alot of Bungie's ideas would go into their next game.

But are we looking a little too deeply into a joke about a long, feathered bug?

Spartans never die... they just revert to last checkpoint.

The chickenpede has to have 20 legs, 10 on each side, with a wing attached above each leg. It shouldn't have a beak, and it might have dangling appendages of pure muscle for chicken strips. The whole back has the thick white meat of a chicken breast. Feathers can also be sold and so must be kept. The -blam!- should be at the end of a long tube like appendage dragged behind the Chickenpede so as to "keep it clean"

It clearly exists. They were talking about it in their podcast. They can't go game to game without overlapping the development. Reach was in the works even before Halo 3 shipped. Otherwise all the Bungie employees would have nothing to do until now. They can't all be brainstorming.

The chickenpede was a joke. Anyone who thinks it was some sort of clue to the new IP is thinking WAY too hard.

I think it has to do with the next project they are working on...

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

I have seen you future

I think it's just a joke. We wanted "explicit details" so he tells us about a conversation some Bungie employees had around lunchtime.

I think it was just random rambling. I would love everything that was cut from the levels of Halo games to be pulled together into a new game. The early builds of Halo Reach and the levels which were cut from Halo 2 and Halo 3.

As far as random ramblings go, i think that these are just that.

Although I can't help but think that the whole thing is a metaphore for somthing he is trying to get across.

Braking it down:

- You need a whole, in order to take a section of that whole for your use, and the rest is left or discarded.

- So you create a new whole wich is comprised (almost) completly of the sections that you need, with minimum waste.
