Foman is awesome!

How the hell is there gravity in UNSC and for that matter Covenant ships?

Also in regards to the Halo rings, shouldn't the rings be spinning crazy fast to have the 1G of gravity it does? When you look at the rings they don't appear to be moving at all.

The Forerunners and consequently the Covenant had gravity technology so they have that (because the Covenant stole Forerunner technology). And UNSC ships have spinning things in the ship somewhere that makes gravity.

And what with Halo rings being Forerunner made, they get gravity technology too :)

Some spinning thing? Sounds like a lampshade hanging XD

"Hello, I am Ring Moniter 666 John Cena".

I seem to recall that in Fall of Reach, when Sam, Kelly, and Chief board the ship, they're very surprised about the gravity and say Halsey would be interested. Maybe they figured it out afterwards.

Both the Covenant and the UNSC have some artificial gravity device that can produce a gravitational field. The novels also mention some UNSC ships having spinning sections, but that's been ignored in the games so far.

If 1g was produced solely from rotation, it would have 1 rotation every 75 minutes and be spinning at roughly 7 km/s. But it's also mentioned in TFOR that there's some sort of other artificial gravity as well.

In regards to the other gravity technology the UNSC has, they don't use it usually because it's expensive. Also, if I'm remembering correctly, they turn off the spinning sections in combat usually.

UNSC ships have a spinning section to produce gravity. However later in the war they started having artificial gravity like the Covenant ships do.

Because of the size of a Halo, the ringworld appears to move slowly.
It probably rotates faster than Earth.

Earth rotates at .465 km/s.
Halo... Let's see. A is v^2/r...
Installation 04 is 10000 km in diameter.
Therefore, radius is 1591 km. So for 1 g of gravity, it rotates at... 3.95 km/s. Damn. One revolution every 42 minutes?

Yeah, I think we'd notice that. Artificial gravity.
