I'm just your average idiot savant.
In 2003, an FPS PC game (Later Mac, Xbox, and Gameboy Advance as well) called TRON 2.0 was released by Buena Vista Interactive as a sequel to the orignal TRON movie (It is now considered non-canon, however). Although it is, in my opinion at least, a rather fun game to play, it didn't preform well in terms of sales and Buena Vista stopped supporting it. A shame really, but that's not why I posted this. My true purpose is that TRON 2.0 has some references and similarities to Bungie's Marathon series. For instance, TRON 2.0 has chapters just like Marathon . For example, the first chapter in the game is called, "Unauthorized User." Also, since the game takes place inside a computer, you can read e-mails which are quite similar to terminals in Marathon . The game is peppered with references as well. For instance, there are upgrades that you can get for your character called, "Subroutines." One such Subroutine allows you to see the name and health of allies and enemies you encounter. One such enemy are corrupted computer programs known as, "Z-Lots," (Named for the fact that the blindly serve and worship the computer virus that corrupted them) that are known to have names like, "Durandal," or, "Ra*mpa^ancy," which are clear Marathon references. On top of that, every now and then, there is scrolling text that occasionally appears on the player's HUD. At one point in the game, the player is attacking a heavily corrupted area, and scrolling text detailing how the player is no match for the corruption and how he/she should serve it rather than fight it is frequently seen on the player's HUD. However, during this level, a garbled version of the scentence, "Frog blast the vent core!" shows up on the HUD. I'll bet that Marathon fans will know what that's all about. :) I think it's pretty cool that people like Marathon enough to put references to it in games they make. As for TRON 2.0 , I recomend playing it. Although it's old and a bit glitchy, it's worth your time and any trouble you have to go through to find it.
TL;DNR: Nice try. Read the whole thing, ya bums.
