"The measure of a man is what he does with power"-Plato

Why?

Jorge is a Spartan 2, he's better all round than N6 and a lot more of a valuable asset than a S3. The death of Jorge really didn't make sense. Jorge detonating the bomb didn't make sense, 6 should have done it.

If you good enough in the level you can save the marines, why cant they detonate the bomb, such a waste.

Jorge thought what he was doing was going to save Reach. Not only that, but Jorge has been in the war longer then Noble 6 had been. SPARTAN-III's are a lot younger than most SPARTAN-II's. Probably, in Jorge's head, he just didn't want it anymore. And he thought the sacrifice of his life would save millions of others.

Even from that stand-point, 6 was far more skilled and useful than Jorge. That's why he's a "hyper lethal vector," and Jorge is not. You've probably read that file from before game release about him making entire organizations disappear. Even outside of game play, Noble 6 was one of the best Spartans.

Halsey said in one of the trailers that there was only 1 Spartan better than Noble Six, and we all know who she's talking about. Just because SIIIs are generally not as effective as SIIs, that doesn't mean that there can't be exceptions, with Noble Six being the case here.

Huh, I know you aren't dissing Six, but I'm just saying I just remember her saying there was only one other Hyper-lethal Spartan. That other Spartan was NEVER named in any material...

Jorge?

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

It's not in the nature of a Spartan-II to have someone else die for them. Spartan-IIs are much more...honorable...than that. A S-II would die for another before they let someone else die for them. So Jorge would have refused. Notice how he had to pick up Noble 6 and throw him out the freaking window.

Plus Jorge wanted to because he thought sacrificing himself would save Reach, which it did. For about five minutes.

I am Field Master Avu Med 'Telcam, Servant of the Abiding Truth, and I have many brothers.

A god who creates tools is still a god. It is not for us to impose qualifications upon the divine or presume to guess its intentions.

Considering SIIIs were created to be a cheaper, more expendable version of SIIs, yes I agree. Didn't make much sense.

Jorge was a bear of a Spartan II, but other then that he wasn't anything super-special.

Six was one of the best Spartan III's, able to perform above some Spartan IIs. In technicality, Six was more valuable.

Then we toss in the detail that no Spartan would take another spartan's gear to survive and leave them to die, and Jorge loved Reach. He thought that action would safeguard the planet.

  • 02.27.2011 3:19 PM PDT

Yeah, why didn't one of the marines that I worked so hard to keep alive detonate the damn bomb?

  • 02.27.2011 3:30 PM PDT

Sir Arch-Duke Ferdinand II Jr. Sr. III Phd.

Noble 6 is hyper lethal, Jorge isn't

But it was pretty much assumed that the other SPARTAN who carried that rating was S-117.

That possibility ruled out when it turned out Spartan-117 was neither the best, nor the most effective Spartan-II.

"Get pooped on."- Everyone at FHS

Being a massive Halo geek, I've went through every word of the story and Jorge probably isn't dead. He didn't actually blow up the ship, he used that jump drive to unstably teleport the thing to who knows where. Survival isn't likely when randomly teleporting in a broken ship full of angry elites with no garuntea of coming out in one piece, but if Microsoft can make a dollar out of his survival well.... you make up the rest. And if Six died, that would destroy the whole interactive experience.

I like the Mk V armor.

Um, S3s and S2s are the same thing other than augmentation. They aren't even more physically adept.

Well obviously Jorge didn't think so, so that's why he threw Noble 6 off rather than himself.

I'd take that theory (and the fact there was still Covenant on the ship being a reason for the marines not staying to blow it up.) but the portal didn't appear infront of the Corvette due to it sitting in the hanger. The portal looked like it formed inside the hanger, then expanded outward, which would cause the ship to invert.

*shrug* That is my take on it though.

Actually it's more of experience (Cause Spartan IIs were around longer.) and gear (Spartan IIIs typically got SPI). Teams like Noble got MJOLNIR and same gear the spartan IIs got though.

That would make the campaign way too short.

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”
