It doesn't necessarily mean you're a bad player. You just have to focus on your weaknesses and improve them. The difference between good players and decent players is consistency. A decent player will be able to 4 shot or get a nice snipe every now and then. A good player will be able to more often.
Take me for example. In my opinion my strength is my BR. I almost never get out BR'ed even by 50s. My favourite gametype is BR basics on an enclosed section of the center of The Pit, and I have 1v1ed quite a few 50s on it and I don't think I've been beaten yet.
But then, I suck at every other part of Halo. My grenades are TERRIBLE, I don't have good map awareness, and my BR on multi-layered areas like Heretic or Onslaught can get pretty shaky.
What I have come to realise is that it doesn't matter if my BR is good because at a high level, so is everyone else's, and I can't Rambo in and own with just that, especially on American host.
So yes, I'm not good enough for a 50 yet. Maybe in dubs or SWAT, but nothing else. You have to practice.
