First off I'd like to admit im not an expert, though i have beat legendary about 7 or 8 times (i just love halo). Wat i would do is take of the grunts first and make sure u watch out for the elites. This is because the grunts are very stupid and annoying. Plus u get grenades. Next id try and take out the elites To do this have the plasma pistol and the assault rifle. Overload the pistol and take out the elites shield then finish it off with ure AR. And the same with jackols. But u probable already knew that. Also don't waste ammo and most of all NEVER run in guns blazing it never works on legendary. And try and use stealth to ure advantage. Or just slap a grenade on an grunt and let him run to his lil elite master and blow em to HELL. If u need more just post it or Message me ill be here if ya need me.

find out how to level skip from the first bridge! easy as cake if u kill the banshee before he kills u! sure its kinda cheating the game... but the level designer put that option in! its not like they were trying to keep u from level skipping when they inserted those odd cliffs with various "soft spots". thats the way to rush through the level as well. also plasma pistol and grenades are a handy combo when dealing with elites. if u can do the trick where u charge up the plasma pistol and quickling throw a nade it can be devastating to them. and by devestating i means it'll blow them and grunts around them straight to hell.

also the tactic of using frags on jackals is VERY effective. just save ur frags and use them selectively on jackals. but save your frags if there is just a lone jackal or maybe 2. charge up a plasma pistol and smack em twice. or just rapid fire if u can do that. this is VERY effective for any covie except grunts. go figure

Thats pretty neat that level skipping stuff i wish id knew that when i had beat it on legendary it woulda taken off about an half an hours of time. How about u explain that a lil more thoroughly???

Whats the fun in level skipping? I would rather be able to say that I beat the level on Legendary all the way through than say "I just bea *insert level here* by finding a glitch and using it!"

To beat any level dominated by Covenant, I use the Plasma Pistol and the Pistol. Overcharge the pistol and then Headshot and the Elites are down. Good luck!

I totally agree with u there trunk. But u see i never and i mean NEVER use cheats gliches or codes or anything until i beat a game on the hardest level which i still haven't used a code on halo its to fun a game to use codes.

To beat any level dominated by Covenant, I use the Plasma Pistol and the Pistol.

This guy know's what he's doing. Test it, I played this level just a few hours ago and this strategy rules.

Play 'The Maw' in Legendary and use the Cafeteria area to compare this strategy with others ( NO grenades by the way). Here's some I tried today

Charge in mindlessly with Shotgun: You will probably take out the nearest Elite, but then get your ass handed to you on a plate by the other 2-3 backing him up.

Fire the Needler from either door: The Needles in the full clip will begin to home in but by the time you've unloaded 8-10 Needles, the Elite(s) will be returning fire on you. Your shield (and probably some health) is gone by the time you've unloaded enough to cause serious damage.

Human Pistol from various hiding spots: Just don't try it, you'll be still trying to take down the shield of the Elite by the time he's bringing down your health.

Charged Plasma Shot from the door: Takes out the shield, but the gun is making a 'heat dump' at the critical time when you need to take out the Elite for good. The guy runs off and waits for his shield to come back

Run in with the Plasma Pistol and a quick trigger finger: You will be knocking the Elite about but his mates will definitely sort you out.

Charged Plasma Pistol, switch to Human Pistol and fire (from the doors): This works like a charm! If you're quick, you can fire off the charged shot, switch to Human Pistol and start shooting before the the charged shot hits. Its such a great tactic.

My advice to you is to beat the level b4 it 10 times in heroic... That way, once you have done that, Not only will you have increased your skills, but you will also be so fricking desperate to change, that u will definately beat it... Well, either that or u will pass out from exhaustion, and kick your xbox... Either way, you WILL beat the level...Lol I am Serious, though, i was thinking what might happen if u give up...

Here's some of my general tactics (mainly for Legendary):

* If you can sneak up on anything worth it (Elites and Jackals) and get the melee in to take it out then do it. You may put yourself in the firing line of other enemies but it makes one less of them and you can easily step back under cover. You never know, you could pull it off without alerting the others.

* If an Elite spots you on the sneak up to take him out (melee) and you've got a Plasma Grenade handy, try and stick it to him. In Legendary an Elite is most definitely the strongest Covenant; you can't afford to go head to head with these guys for long so make every encounter the last. If you've no grenade then you'll have to use whatever's in your palms to do the job; and its a lot harder.

* Be careful where you use your grenades because you need them loads. Although Plasmas do come along often, don't waste them on impossible or head shots. If you can't make the shot then don't bother and try again later when the pickings maybe easier.

* Charged Plasma shots rule. They will stun an Elite for a while so you can finish him off easily and it will take out a Jackal's shield. Learn to use this tactic extremely well.

* The best thing to do when attacked by a mixed group is lob a grenade or two into the bunch. That'll take most of them out (or crap them up at least). If you haven't got a grenade, kill most of the Grunts with whatever you've got and go find a Needler. Pack a Grunt or Elite with it to the point where it explodes and chances are there'll be a grenade or two on the floor around them. They'll explode and wipe that area clean of all Covenant forces.

* Learn to be very good with the Sniper Rifle. Keep your distance and pick of the strongest enemies (Elites first, then Jackals or Hunters) with the least amount of shots possible.

insted of charging ur pistol then having it recharge, jus use two fingers and walk the trig like a paintball gun works good cuz ittle take there sheilds out and still have enough battery to finish an elite off

If you need help, use the two pistol combo, plasma to get shields down, then human pistol to the head. Also there's a little notch on the right side of a jackals shield that you can usually fit a pistol bullet into. And wack as many grunts while they're sleeping as possible. And you can always back track to get ammo, including rocket ammo.

bah

Where are you're biggest trouoble spots? I've beaten AotCR well over a hundred times (favorite level) and I've done it a dozen different ways. Odds are, I've played it once using a style similar to your own. I've got great tactics for players to use that aren't as good at playing the game on Legendary. I can get through the level without dieing once due to being super cautious and using tactics that don't put my in harm's way. Where is your first trouble spot?

Just make sure that you don't start firing at the Covies when they haven't noticed you yet. On some of the bridges, and some of the chambers, the grunts are sleeping, and the elites/jackals are walking around. Just kil the grunt with melee attack and kill the jackals or elites with melee in the back.
