What do the colors on an elite's armor symbolize?

"The measure of a man is what he does with power"-Plato

Colours are now pointless now with the reach armour the Elites wear.

Blue-Minor
Red-Major
White-Ultra
Gold-General (As of Halo Reach)
Purple-Supreme Commander
Silver w/ Gold Guilding-Imperial Admiral

Dark Purple (Halo 2 & Halo 3)/Dark Red (Halo Reach)/Black (Halo CE)-Spec Ops

They still follow a coloring system that is largely loyal to previous games.

P.S.: Halo Reach wasn't the first one to start switching things up.

Amror's are made out of different alloys, and I think color distinguishes which ones are stronger.

I think it's something like this:

Blue: Minor
Red: Major
Gold: Shipmaster
White: Ultra
Black: Special Ops
Brown: Invisible Guys

I think.

I wake up to find myself
After all these years
And where all the time has gone
Still seems so unclear

If you leave out Reach's "redesign" of their ranks...

Minor - Blue
Major - Red
Ranger(jetpack guys) - Cyan
Special Ops - Black/Purple
Ultra - White
Zealot - Gold
Special Op Commander - Silver (Half-Jaw)

(Books only-rank color)
Supreme Commander - Purple
Imperial Admiral - Silver/Gold highlights

I laugh at this. Reach wasn't the first one to redesign the colors.

Only changed one, which you could say is a specialized group of Zealots where later you face another, more general kind.

(Zealots being gold before and now a dark red/maroon.)

No, it also changed the Ranger's and Spec Ops coloration.

But if we are now going to start to complain about colors, we shouldn't just single out Halo Reach. Halo 2 also switched up the coloration of the Spec Ops. It also dividing up the Stealth Rank into two different ranks, as well as changing the colors.

I thought the only invisible elites in halo 2 were the brown ones at the envy skull?

If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

White-Ultra

Silver-Spec Ops Commander of Covenant

Isn't it the opposite way around for these two?

  • 03.01.2011 2:51 PM PDT

Let's be honest, it could be a lot worse.

Just look at the Halo Reach Elites most are kind of special porpose but the red ones are now wearing orange, very close colors in my opinion.

No new games, catching up with the world, and filling it with the name of SpazDragon, the dragon with a spas-12.

I've invented a new rank-The Elite Troll!!!
