Subject: Bungie Beta Tester Sign Up Survey

Hahahaha. Relax guys. I'm sure you'll all get to beta test in some form. Think of how many people were needed to test Halo 3 and Reach. Considering that the only way to sign up for this is through Bungie.net, it doesn't make sense to kick people out based on account age. They need all the testers they can get.

When the game is over, the king and pawn go into the same box

Cool. Maybe I'll get an email in the next wave.

So it's simply a survey? Not an application?

I'm guessing they're simply trying to get some details about their player base of potential testers.

No prioritizing folks. I'm from '06 and a Legendary Member, ex- Mythic. I haven't gotten this e-mail.

And I had to jump through a ton of hoops to get even the 2nd Newsletter. UGH!
I think we'll be getting it soon for sure. Each wave must represent year joined.

3/1 - <2004
?/? - 2005
?/? - 2006

..and so on.
If that's the way it works then I should be getting an email soon. *fingers crossed*

  • 03.01.2011 4:14 PM PDT

Uhh...I got one, so it's obviously based on how cool you are.

I am really upset, I didn't get a beta tester email... :(

I am on here regularly and even participate in contests... :(

I now have something to cry about tonight though. :'(

I love that this thread immediately turned into a guessing game regarding variables into how people were selected.

It doesn't really matter much, you'll likely get your chance to survey-shine sooner or later.

(for the sake of adding to discussion, I didn't get one, and my account is Aug 8th 2004, so account-age might not factor in)

I was just thinking about that.

I was using another account for almost two years, and created this account a couple of days ago. Would Bungie know that I switched accounts, and send the email to this one, or would they send it to my previous account?

Just curious....

This is why I am not freaking out like some people seem to be.

A survey is honestly not a big deal.

I'm betting that it's random. If everyone who signed up to be a tester took the survey at once, something might break.

Thus the "waves" of emails.

Case and point: don't worry about it. Girls start getting boobies pretty soon, and then you'll have plenty of other things to think about. Being an Inheritor is not a life goal.

I'm not worrying about it, but this has peaked my curiosity. I'm certainly interested.

The bigger sin is that Pokemon has been classed as a childrens' game. For shame.

No the bigger sin is that Forza Motorsport isn't listed under racing games. That's the real sin!

A tosser is the same as a wanker. To toss oneself off is to fondle the trouser weasel.

I just looked at the Reach forum and nothing about this has been mentioned. Apparently the first wave of e-mails were not random, unless newer members don't know about it and never checked that box.

For those saying this Bungie Tester Program is just a survey, this is just the first step. Quoting the e-mail:

"Bungie Beta Testers help us make Bungie games great. It might be as simple as answering a few questions or you might be asked to take part in an in-person research study."

“Oh, it’s a little bit of everything, it’s the mountains, it’s the fog, it’s the news at six o’clock, it’s the death of my first dog, it’s the angels up above me, it’s the song that they don’t sing, It’s a little bit of everything.”
- Dawes, A little bit of everything

When I first saw this thread (and my lacking email inbox), I was miffed and I was about to reference previous games/systems I have beta tested...but that's not necessary. I will wait my turn.

BUT I AM SO EXCITED TO FIND OUT ABOUT BUNGIE'S NEXT GAME!

Unlikely. They'll be doing waves on a statistical basis, more than a load balancing basis, hence everyone who got an email (apparently) being old as -blam!-.

Then why are there Mythic 2004 members who didn't get an email?

Out of sincere curiosity, who said that the emails would be handed out based on statistics?

I blame myself, not Stosh.

Just got an email and looked at it. Found out the new one I got was just an advertisement from xbox live. :(

I'm appalled.

On the topic of how they're sending them out, what does it matter? Just wait patiently until you get one.

Exciting stuff! - Even if I don't get picked, the forums will be ablaze with stuff from people that did, should be a riot.

Wait are you guys saying this is a racial thing!?

It's most likely just a completely random thing. This the only place where a simple survey turns people in to conspiracy theorists.

I'm curious if anyone from '06 received theirs? Hopefully the older members will get their emails first >:D
I believe it is prioritized by Bungie.net rank, so legendary and mythic members are above you :(

I don't have one. Hopefully I will, along with as many active members as possible. :)
I believe mythic received messages first, then legendary...so yours may be coming
