In a time long past, the armies of the dark came again to the lands of men. Their leaders became known as the fallen lords, and their terrible sorcery was without equal in the west.
In 30 years they reduced the civilized nations into carrion and ash. Until the free city of Madrigal alone defined them. An army gathered there, and a desperate battle was joined against the fallen
Heros were born in the fire and bloodshed of the wars which followed and their names and deeds will never be forgotten

I think it should go by activity, not year joined. I've been an active member of the community for the past year, had a few good threads, enter competitions, and play Reach everyday.

I agree, I am very active here on Bungie.net, played every Halo, and have participated in the all stars several times...

Yes, I'm a girl, stop asking.

Republic Commando fans look here.

I just thought of something... :D

If the next game is rated 17+, then Bungie won't be able to offer the beta to persons under 17 years of age, am I right?

Awesome.

Not necessaryly true, when the Halo 3 beta was launched I was only 16. However, Bungie invited me through friends and family. Also, people tend to lie about their ages on websites these days, so I doubt you'll see a huge decrease in players under the age of 17/18.

Same, I got the message on here even though I was underage at the time, I don't think it matters.

It is becuase the beta build of a game is unrated and legally anyone can play...

I hope HBungie invites many participants...

I never got one of those before.

How exactly do you think Bungie will know how active you are, how many "good" threads you have, the competitions you've entered and how much you play Reach?

This e-mails are not being sent out by a person, don't be naive. It must be an automated system that uses certain criteria, and the things you both listed can't be measured.

The only data they can access through your e-mail address is how long you've been here; they could also know your number of posts but that's completely irrelevant to this survey. This survey is about your gaming habits, not about your forum habits.

I broke one of the cords for my X11s because I couldn't get past the final American course in Doritos Crash Course.

I think its fair that people who have been here a long time get it, like 06 and before, it shows they have had an interest in Bungie games and more importantly the company before it got super popular.

Space. The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of Murphy's Laws on the StarShip Enterprise

Wish they would give some info on their procedures and have given us some warning last friday, before this happened. Otherwise something like this probably wouldn't be as big a fuss

I don't think it necessarily shows those things accurately but nevertheless I think it's a fair move.

Though frankly I can't envision a scenario that I would consider unfair since we aren't entitled to anything.

The word fuss shouldn't even be incorporated with this at all.

People shouldn't get upset, because they didn't get selected, nor should people brag if they did. I am not saying that anyone is bragging, but several have been complaining.

As I said before, relax. It's not a big deal. If you don't get picked, do not let it get you down. If you do, you'll end up complaining, and if it isn't random, they are probably less inclined to select you.

That's just my opinion though. I personally wouldn't want to select someone out of pity.

The bottom line is that people need to stop fretting over such trivial matters as not being selected to be a beta tester. One, there is always another chance in the future. Two, it really isn't something you should let bug you for the rest of your life.

If you are honestly going to get upset over not being selected, shut off your computer for awhile, get your priorities straight, and return when you have realized that the internet, and video games are not everything.

Note, I am not trying to be rude towards anyone. I am simply letting you know that it's okay if you did not selected. Don't freak out if you don't, and don't become an egomaniac if you do.

Just an Average Joe...

As much as Rascal just sugar coated it, he's right. Obviously they have a method to choosing who gets what, even if that means randomized selection. And if you don't like it, you're in no position to complain. You didn't pay for anything, you're not entitled to anything. Get over it.

I wonder when Wave 2 will happen. Could be today, could be next week?

The Wave 1 emails were mass sent out around Noon Bungie Time am I right? Maybe I'll check my email around then...

Uh... yes they are. The people complaining are in the perfect position to be complaining, and they have every right to. When you want something you want it. Saying "don't speak up when you want something because you aren't entitled to it" is ridiculous. They're free and entitled to talk about whatever they want.

It's only natural for the people who didn't get it to be jealous. Saying that they shouldn't be talking about it and to 'get over it' is silly. Let them discuss if they want. If they don't think something was fair, leave it to them. Are they right? Maybe, maybe not. It doesn't matter. But just shooing it away because it annoys you or something? Hah.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Why not?!?

anyway, it would be nice to be a Bungie tester but only selecting the oldest members and not anyone else is kinda discarding alot of community members... :(

Which in no way is fair; if that is true, it would be even more upsetting...

Yes it is for the many Bungie fans who weren't included... :(

I hope this isn't as exclusive as it has been for the past day or two...

God dang, man. You really don't seem to understand. It's not that big of a deal, or at least it shouldn't be.

Don't get mad if you don't get selected. You say. "....and not anyone else is kinda discarding alot of community members... :("

Please do not deny the fact that you are talking about yourself. I realize that you want to be a beta tester, but if you are not selected to become one, there is obviously a reason, and the best thing to do is just let it go.

I assume from your posts that you infact got an invite or simply don't care...

Yes, I really want to be a Bungie beta tester and I am a loyal fan on the community, along with many other fans...

But to be not given a chance just because I am shy a few years doesn't make me any less of a fan or wanting to be included...

It is natural being involved here so much to be angry about not getting an invite...

I did not get an invitation, and frankly I do not mind. As I said before, I would be honored if I did get selected, but I am not going to let the fact that I didn't get selected get me down.

And I don't think anyone really knows the exact guidelines for becoming a beta tester. It seems that quite a few of the people were selected have been here for awhile, but that could very well be a coincidence.

Who knows.

Thing is if bungie are selecting by years subscribed its because its the only way to know if somone has stayed with bungie and thus supports bungie. Its true somone who may not have a long sub might be the ultimate bungie fan, but there is no way for bungie to know that from your profile.

Dont be mad at bungie cause of it, after all there probably plenty of fans who have been subbed for years who wont get selected, its just a lucky draw with the people who do fit the criteria anyway.

Its ok to be mad , upset ect if you dont get an invite and to voice that, its just wrong to demand it.

Who said anything about "old members" getting invites? I've been here for almost five years and I got nothing. Stop crying and get over it. You may still get one, you may not. But making yourself look like a self-entitled demanding little child isn't going to do you any good.
