Subject: Precursors or Forerunners?

Merry Christmas.

Happy New Year.

There has been a lot of talk about the Humans being mysteriously related to the Forerunners. It does make sense. They can activate any Forerunner holo-panel and are called "Reclaimers" by Forerunner AIs. The Precursors are less know. They are a race more technologically advanced than the Forerunners and lived before them. Is it possible for humans to be some how "related" to either? In the books, each time a Spartan came near a room full of Forerunner symbols, it felt to them as though it was familiar. Dr. Halsey seems to know the most about Forerunner symbols and was very easily, she became literate with Forerunner writing. If there is a link between Forerunners and humans, is it possible they predicted the existence of a race similar to theirs' in thousands of years after their extinction? Or did the Precursors predict this? Hopefully, more information on the Precursors will be revealed in the future. So, is it the the Forerunners humans are related to, their art and writing feeling familiar to humans, or the Precursors, a lessor known race with the top tier of technology and larger secrets than even the Forerunners?

What do YOU think?

I have been meaning to read Cryptum for some time now.

Read Halo Cryptum. Humans are in no way related to the Precursor, we are not related to the Forerunner as such either. Humanity and the Forerunner were creations of the Precursor as far as I can tell.

Humans are not related to Forerunners. In fact, before the Forerunner-Flood war the Forerunners fought a war with humanity.

Less is known about the Precursors, and by less I mean almost nothing.

I strongly suggest you read Cryptum, it tells a lot about the Forerunners, and even a little about the Precursors.

They're related in the sense they are brothers

the only thing known is that they are large extremely wise creatures that resemble insects, and their structures are nearly indestructible being able to sink beneath a planets tectonic plates because of tectonic movement and come up millions of years later unscathed.

Did you read Cryptum?

The Forerunners hated the humans, they fought a massive war with them. How they left the mantle to us is still a mystery since they Forerunners absolutely despised humanity.

It could be that the Forerunner knew the flood would be back some day, so they also created Humans, and I guess they were stored until long after the shot was fired. It would explain why Humans can control forerunner artifacts. It is there role.

This is all speculation.

How about this for a posed question. The last precursor is the first gravemind. Let's look at this objectively of course. SPOILER ALERT! The precursors created the flood to attack the forerunners as a sort of revenge type thing. Mendicant bias met the last precursor and joined the flood and it seems logical that it would take a precursor to control their bio-weapon of the flood. I would suggest that the description of the last precursor vaguely resembles the gravemind. Perhaps the precursor finished the gravemind part of flood evolution by doing something once he was freed or killed.

It is also possible that since the humans discovered a cure for the flood infestation the forerunners handed the mantle down to us in hopes that in the future we would rediscover the cure. This is apart from my previous post.

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Cryptum explained that humans are not Forerunner and in fact we went to war with the Forerunner and were royally pwned.

That's precisely why the story of the Forerunners vs Humans is so ironic. We were both created by the Precursors, look almost exactly the same (without mutation) and despised each other. I think WE were the Mantle inheritors and the Flood is Precursors' punishment for the Forerunners screwing it up.

Yes they hated each other, but they were still brothers.
