What if we had it Mass Effect style where you got to pick which system you wanted to go to and run ops there. Like on Halo Legends when they take out a prophet.

and you could find marines and other ODSTs that have weapons and skills, and you can choose who you want to take.

They wont, they now have very few rights to anything and everything Halo related. If any other Halo games are to by carried out it wil have to be by 343i.

Here's my pitch folks:
ODST 2: Onyx
Take the basic story from the Onyx novel; young, half-trained soldiers wearing some mixed up type of armor [allows sprint and limited camo, but not fully the S3 model either]

Guerrilla warfare through the jungles against Forerunner drones and later Covenant forces.

Fight/sneak your way up to the base, get inside and hold off the Covenant ground troops as you make your way deeper inside.

Last level: Surrounded. Covenant surging at you from every direction.
End the game jumping into the hole with Halsey
Ends on a cliffhanger [did we survive?]

Legendary/Mythic ending reveals that you survived and what exactly the Forerunners left there. Fades out with the realization that you may be stuck there for a long time.

Glossing over it a bit and it's not so much an ODST game like the first, but I think that story offers a lot of potential for a mysterious, stealthy game; keeping the spirit of ODST alive even if you might not technically be an ODST. Though you certainly could be.

My idea for ODST's story. Some people are not going to like... at all.

ODST 2: Precursor
One Year After Halo 3:When a large battle ship discovers a "Foreunner" city while looking for a Spartan signal they found, but the NEW Covenant wants it too. ODST's drop to stop them and something is released.

One hour after the events, Alpha Squad is sent, along with others, are sent down to discover what the hell happened down there. But the soldiers discover that Cortana went has gone rampant sooner thanks to something here. She has taken over the Gravemind, and she is evil.

You play as a customizable player character in face, armor, and even voice. It is still a FPS, just with RPG elements. You are a member of Alpha squad who escapes the Flood and enters the city. He there finds a Precursor battle suit, and trys to find a way out of the city.

The player then begins discovering memory files, and in each area of the city there are files that belong to humans, Forerunners, and Precursors.
You live out their own memories and such. You need to have at least 20 out of each set to obtain the ending.

After discovering the truth of the City and learns of the super weapon Ragnorok, The player will face the ultimate boss.... 117. Controlled by Cortana, he is a liability.

Once you defeat him and trap the flood, the player will contact the battle ship.... only to find silence. Fade to black.

If you collected all the Memory logs, You can access 117's last memory log and discover the real enemy..... MUWAHAHAHAHAH

more tactical weaponary oh drive a pelican exept its a mission when you drive the whole time picking up fellow odsts and you land at were the mission takes place and when you get out it shows you walking out the back and you could still be the rookie if you wanted to cus he grew on me and be abnle to play as sgt johnson with out preorder and you unlock by beating the campain on any diffaculty

If there was going to be a sequel I would want it in new Alexandrea. I feel that the battle in New Alexandrea wasn't explored enough, and that it is the perfect setting for another ODST game.

More Weapons with creater options for either customization or utilization,

Halo ODST 2:
MA5B, MA5C and a suppressed SOCOM variant, M7 SMG and the M7S supressed Variant, M6C pistol and M6C SOCOM supressed variant, M6G and M6G SOCOM, SRS99 and a suppressed variant, M6 Spartan Laser, M19 or M41 Rocket Launcher, M90 series shotgun (likely Halo 3's M90A for balancing purposes), M319 Grenade Launcher (technically its an army weapon but there ODST's), BR55HB SR and a suppressed variant (with options for selective burst and semi auto firing modes), M247 MG in various forms

as far as vehicles go:
M12 FAV Warthog: M12 LRV (gatling gun turret, ITS NOT A CHAIN GUN); M12G1 LAAV (Gauss cannon); M12R1 LAAV (rocket hog); M831 TT (troop transport hog); M12 FAV with no weapons basically just a flatbed warthog
M274 Mongoose ULATV: this time with the ability the use a special extend-able monopod folded into the body of the mongoose the stabilize weapons like the BR and AR while riding
AV-14 Hornet: same as Halo 3 (no nerfing 343i!) and with one new feature, ability to fast rope from a moving hornet (since fall damage is sure to return.)
M808B MBT Scorpion: same as Halo Reach, but with the ability to ride on tracks and slightly stronger armor (especially since ODST are weaker than spartans)
UH-144 Falcon: in campaign all variants feature the chin-mounted autocannon and door mounted weapons (multiplayer variants
UH-144A with door mounted machine guns and no passenger seats or pilot controlled autocannon; UH-144S (Grenade Launcher variant) campaign only; UH-144T (transport) features the pilot controlled M638 autocannon and two passenger seats.

Firefight:
in firefight there should be a new mode, covie firefight where you play as Elites or Brutes and you fight marines, ODST, Spartan II's and Spartan III's (and sergeant johnson as the mega boss!)
otherwise the customization options from halo reach remain largely the same. some armor abilities such as armor lock, drop shield and hologram return in firefight only cause of balancing and canon issues in other game modes.

Forge:
Halo ODST 2's forge mode will make Halo Reachs look like a prototype and Halo 3's look like a childs playtoy!
features include placement of pelicans, phantoms, spirit dropships, fuel rod shades and grizleys (all of which never appear in matchmaking). forging areas include blank suface maps of different base geometry environments like the interiors of Covenant and UNSC ships, forerunner forgeworld, UNSC and covenant military bases, and other assort area,
Invasion and Assault will feature destructible forge pieces such as bridges doors and small structures, only meant to be destroyed when the bomb detonates in the respective game modes.

Multiplayer:
new game modes should include an obstacle course mode (based on Achievement Horse) and would be played in a race based playlist. a new variant of King of the Hill should be created where certain weapons can be designated the hill and everyone competes for one weapon with modified atributes.
Playlists will be seperated into two different sets; Spartan and Helljumper; in spartan playlists gameplay is the same as previous halo games multiplayer where players have shields and all the familier characteristics of a spartan super soldier that were used to. in Helljumper playlists gameplay is a little more like campaign, where your weaker and slower than a spartan, but headshots won't be an instakill either, player helmets will protect them again at least one non-sniper bullet head shot(canonically ODST armor has unmatched ballistic protection compared to all non-spartan human armor). gameplay in the Helljumper playlist would be much more tactical than the spartan playlist and would resemble a cross between swat, spartan gametypes and CoD gameplay.

as for character customization: in campaign customization would be limited since the player is (well...) playing as an ODST; in firefight and matchmaking, player would be able to access all the same kind of armor permutations as Halo Reach since there is no need to justify multiplayer appearance canonically and even in Helljumper playlists the player could where Mk. 6 MJOLNIR armor

lastly the SOEIV (drop pod) would be integrated to various aspects of all modes of gameplay. in campaign there would be mulltiple combat drops and some being partial controllable as to where you land. firefight may feature spawns or respawns in drop pods where one strategy could to land on top of a bunch of covies in order to kill them and clear the landing zone, and multiplayer could feature equipment drop pods in some mode of invasion that delivers weapons or vehicles (maybe after you capture a zone in invasion slayer)

Two different strains of multiplayer.

Multiplayer as we are used to. ODSTs running round fragging each other etc, firefight etc.

Multiplayer assault. Invasion style games where all the human players drop to assault a Covenant held facility, drop to rescue civilians, drop to relieve a UNSC marine force etc. You face large numbers of covenant, fighting from almost the moment you touch down. Games to last 15-30 minutes, giving a suitably epic feel.
On legendary, you get one life, once you're killed you are out, unless everyone gets killed in which case you redrop as new ODSTs to try it again.

For the campaign -

Make civilian vehicles drivable.
Have a selection of worlds and enemies.

Possibly divide the campaign into several acts.
In the first act you are fighting human rebels.
In the second you are attacking a covenant supply centre on one of their worlds in an effort to slow their invasion into human space.
In the third act you are attached to a UNSC former colony ship and have to fight a boarding action in space in order to finish off a damaged covenant cruiser.
In the fourth you fight on Earth.

And you just turn into more and more of a grizzled vet. You start act 1 as a rookie and progress to captain. Later battles require you to pick specialists and give orders to AI ODSTs in order to get the mission done. They should be virtually impossible to complete solo, forcing mere humans to work as a team (ie detail 2 men to work as a sniper team, another two to provide covering fire as the rest leapfrog forwards).

Give ODSTs grenade launchers with a selection of ammo, give them futuristic minimi equivalents, give them a bullpup assault rifle with underslung shotgun, give them claymore mines, trip mines and futuristic C4.

In short, make them really badass.

i think that multiplayer assault could more be integrated within the realm of firefight or a new mode sort of like CoD MW2's spec ops mode except with a bit more of a free play environment. basically firefight mixed with Spec Ops.

i defiantly would also like to see drivable civilian cars that are faster but weaker than warthogs (imagine cruising through Mombasa streets in one of those sports cars splatting brutes).

i do like the idea of a location and career spanning campaign, only i would want to see another game take place on earth, that battle has been sufficiently explored, end the game somewhere like sigma octanus IV or Tribute (another planet in the same system as Reach).

i don't like the idea of putting so many attachments on weapons in halo, i think that scopes and suppressor attachments are just fine and that shotguns and grenade launchers should be separate weapons. otherwise you start getting to CoD type situation where certain combos become overpowered. but on the other hand i would like to see some sort of place-able explosive but with the sort of balancing that halo is known for.

I love Orbital Drop Shock Troopers. I think that Master Chief should be in ODST 2.Also i think there should be new weaponry like the ones in Halo Reach and the Veicles.
