see you in the sky's SPARTAN!

it would also be epic if you could have an combat drop each time in multiplayer, and you can steer the drop pod while flying

"Shutup dude you're like 42 years old"

The battle bro mode is actually a really good idea. The one thing I enjoyed about MW2 was Spec Ops, and this is basically the same exact idea. Obviously also include a revamped Firefight with MM but that retains the ODST feel that Reach so desperately needs in its FF.

The only thing I'm not really a fan of us having a competitive multiplayer. It isn't really needed in this type of game, and if done right with a slightly longer campaign, it wouldn't even need the MM.

"When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down happy. They told me I didn't understand the assignment, and I told them they didn't understand life."
-John Lennon

We must get this!

How about a 'realistic' squad-based shooter (think Operation Flashpoint), With you and your buddies as a squad of ODST's on Reach, Earth, whatever. Stealthy Assassinations, surgical assaults, etc on a covenant-occupied human planet. Maybe you could be operating out of one of those ONI stealth Ships (Prowlers? can't remember what they're called) with some form of 'hub'. (this would also allow plenty of combat drops to work into the story =P)

Flesh out different weapon types and roles; as well as armour types + attachments. Maybe even a medic role.

I think that Forge should have more add ins too. Such as actual Drop pods instead of the hard way to create them in Reach and also there should be weather conditions. Like have an orb that u can make grow bigger that creates more sunlight or rain or snow. Thatd b cool to create more variety in how u Forge

to be or not to be...that is the question.

all the ideas are awsome. if there was going to be a second odst game, then the graphics alone from the reach engine plus all these make it sound so cool.

Call me Stu

great Idea.

  • 05.12.2011 3:56 AM PDT

I loved ODST, but before it became ODST, the idea was thrown around to mix up the story's perspective and give you a full-blown Covie experience, through an Elite strike team. Instead of an ODST 2, I think it would be neat to throw around different perspective stories, similar to the way ODST was conceived.

Unfortunately, if such games as these were to be made, it wouldn't happen until quite some time into the future. 343i has already said that they have no desire to create spin-off games, thinking that such stories are better told in other mediums.

I disagree.

Halo and Bungie rock ! :D Recon Is the Best !

Gamertag: DigitalEagle1

Theres alot of awsome ideas in this Topic but i think that bungie cant do everything that people say cause it can like 2-3 years to create a ODST 2 With all of these ideas. I think People should go easy on bungie because it takes a long time to create a vidio game. Maybe in a couple of years Bungie could create A halo game with all these Ideas.

Who Dares, Wins.
-S.A.S. Motto

-Customizable weapons
-An assault rifle with a scope and selective fire
-Sandbox environments in urban and rural areas
-Customizable weapons
-Semiautomatic grenade launcher
-Light machine guns
-No more repetitive environments (NM is a good example of this)
-Edgier gameplay

For example, if a squad of Covanent is attacked, the AI may call for a dropship, thereby putting the player in a position to act and think quickly.
-A much deeper storyline and interaction with the environment

ODST was, is, a brilliant game. I would like to have been dropped down from space numerous times. Everyone is talking about bringing in new grenades and such, and I agree. This game hast to be unique on it's on. Maybe 343 will make another one, you never know.

The Rookie's back story...

"This Marine was recently transferred from the 26th MEF, part of a Rapid Offensive Picket that suffered near-annihilation at New Jerusalem, Cygnus. Like most ODSTs, his actions speak louder than words."

I would buy this game.

Weapons
Great Idea except put throwing knives in as well. They should be fired as a grenade so it would be alot easier.
And there should be some sort of weapons upgrade so you can edit your weapons like putting on a silencer in your gun, grenade launcher , an emp device or a mini flamethrower etc.

Campaign
In the story instead of it taking place in New Mombasa, it should take place around earth.

Gametypes
There should be Matchmaking in ODST 2.
Another idea is to have a war gametype called "ODST showdown" or something like that. It should be based on a credit system so you can add more ODSTs in your squad but they have to be different ranks like gunnery sergant etc. but depending on how high their rank is it should cost you more credits. And in the gametype it should be like a firefight except that there is no lives and that you can keep playing as long as you want. During the game it should get harder and harder and the covenant squads get more bigger and if you surivive really long it would be just brute squads and hunter squads.

Another Idea is to put a new gametype called "Covenant Zombies" It could have it's own mini campaign like ODSTs are sent to a UNSC base and see what happend, Zombies attack them and they get trapped inside. It should give you objectives and the longer you survive the more zombies.

Being able to grapple would be pretty cool

If it actually is going to be made
i would say a RPG like campaign and massasive battles
cool firefight maps and maybe customizable weapons would be awsome

odst's being like ninjas and invading the covenant.

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Drop Pods should be spawnable in Forge of course.

  • 05.17.2011 6:30 PM PDT

How about a prequel?
You are the Rookie, and its time to explore a bit of his past in the battles he kicked ass in before he joined Buck, Romeo, Dare, Mickey and Dutch.
I also like the idea of having a Section 8: Prejudice style respawn in firefight and multiplayer, where you select you're dropping point and drop feet first into hell.
I also would love to see customizable ODST armor pieces and the helmet on/off option, as well as sprint, and different vision modes through the VISR. I'd also like a good mix of light maps, such as Reach's Forge World, but also some more somber maps like the Ruins of New Alexandria. Maybe like a ruined version of Reach's Reflection, but just all shot up and dark.
Also, I'd like to see Brute Slayer. How funny would that be?
As well as ODST vs. Brutes invasion. No elites, because that would ruin the old familiar Halo 3 feeling.
My perspective on a second ODST game would be this, all summed up: A game with new features and graphics, much like Reach's, but with that old familiar Halo 3 feeling. Also, add ODST forge, and multiplayer in addition to a new campaign. Make the firefight have its own forge version and also let the player change different settings in firefight, excluding the ability to make yourself invincible, lol.
All you guys ideas are amazing, i'd like to see a Halo 4: ODST 2 come out someday, with many of these awesome features.

How about a cooperative multiplayer? Think killing floor or left 4 dead, maybe with 6 player coop against enemies, the missions would have to be really dynamic and there would be several game modes like syrvival and assault and such. There could be a competetive gamemode, but it would take a backseat to the cooperative mp.
I think that having a narrative set in MP is a really great idea and I would like to have them expand upon that.

We should be able to carry some biofoam around, it would only heal you temporarily, but you won't need to put up with an annoying beeping sound, sort of like how the pills are in left 4 dead.

We should be able to carry silencers and equip them if we want.
It would be pretty cool to see them fully realize the stealth mode in ODST by making it sort of like in army of two, some players could de-quip the silencers and attract all the attention while the rest of your team can sneak up on the rest of the enemies and take them out silently.

It would be good if, at some time during the exploration of a characters back-story, we were getting stalked by a cloaked elite. I forget what the game is with the invisible water monster, but a lot of people believe it was one of the scariest video games ever...taking elements of that could make ODST2 heaps good. I don't think it should be a story of hope, like ODST was, but more of a story of failure in an opressive world.

I think you are talking about Amnesia: the dark descent

We all learn from our mistakes and what makes Halo hard to put down is because it's never one of them. It's a game to play with the people you play with and there isn't a time when that changes. I usually play with a buddy watching my back and vice versa. Call it a mutual respect that goes a long way. If it's not that, it's me going for the big guns but not the sniper. I've seen better snipers than me. Play with heart and a whole lot of skill and never leave a man behind!

I think the pace of the next game should be drastically reduced. An added sense of immersion would be the gain. Imagine slowly coming behind a brute or whatever it may be and doing a slow knife animation allowing you to kill that enemy presence. Since it was night, they gave you night vision, troops seemed unaware of your presence, and even that detective vibe was given why not pay it off? I think slowing the game down to almost a MGS4 pace would have done the trick. Hope this help. :)
