Subject: Forerunner Mutation and the Spartans

Anyone else get the impression that Forerunner Mutation is essentially the same thing as Spartan augmentation? It would seem so in description: you get stronger, larger and you fit your role much better. The Didact is described as looking like a tank, unnaturally strong and tall.

Being a warrior, this would fit him.

Do you think its safe to say that mutation(s) in Forerunners are like augmentations?

Something else I noticed while rereading the Ghosts of Onyx, Ackerson says that his plans for the SPARTAN III program included, if it went smoothly and once the technology got there, extending the bio-enchancements of the SPARTAN programs to the general populace. Or at least, create the entire human military to be just as efficient as the SPARTANS.

When he spoke of a hundred thousand spartans in 30 years, I got the impression, now that I'd read Cryptum, this could be said to be like the humans taking their first sub-conscious steps as inheritors of the Mantle.

The Librarian imposed a geas on humanity, that's clear, but what if she also ordered the humans to uptake the Mantle eventually? It seems likely.

It would also be like humanity returning to their ancient selves. We obviously had SPARTAN like traits to contend with the Forerunners for so long in war. Were it not for the Flood, we might have actually defeated the Forerunners.

So what do you think? Could we be slowly uptaking the Mantle of Life our brothers the Forerunners did so long ago and not even realizing it?

Have you seen my mind anywhere? I seem to have lost it...

x0x 0x0 0x0 0xx 000 0x0 000
x0x x0x x00 0xx 0x0 x0x 0x0

I have seen you future

The Spartan augmentations are not really that similar to Forerunner mutations.

The Spartan augmentations were chemicals put into their bodies to make them stronger, faster and more lethal.

The Forerunner mutations were closer to a fly maturing from a larvae to a mature fly. They become bigger and stronger, but also wiser. It is also a natural process, not artificial improvements.

I don't care. I really don't.

It's not actually natural, it's just found everywhere throughout Forerunner society.

OT: Yeah, this is an interesting implication; nice bridge making OP.

This. It was a societal undertaking they went through to fit there role as a citizen. I remember machines being involved, but I'm not sure.

Point being: Its not natural.
