Did Breaking Benjamin make Blow Me Away for Halo 2 or no?

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Off the top of my head, I think they did. I checked wikipedia, and it looks like the first release of the song was on the Halo 2 soundtrack, which suggests that it was written for the game.

Since the band didn't release an album for quite a while after the song came out, it doesn't seem like they just borrowed an existing song for the game either. Unless someone knows differently (there might be an interview about it somewhere), I'd have to say, again, that I'm pretty sure the song was a Halo 2 original.

Well the song is in one of the levels in Halo 2

It has lyrics right. I guess that seems to suggest that it wasn't specially made for Halo no (IIRC they only use an instrumental version in the game)?

Yes and a great moment that is, I love that encounter.
I'm leaning towards: Yes, they did make it with Halo in mind.

Great music for that part in the game. Wish they played more of it.

On Benjamin Burnley's(the lead singer) wikipedia page it says: "Burnley is a self admitted video gamer. In fact, he maintained the idea for Breaking Bejamin to write and record the song "Blow Me Away" for the soundtrack to Halo 2."

Fun fact: The version in Halo 2 isn't the instrumental version. The vocals are turned way down, but not completely off.

Yeah Ben wrote it specifically for Halo 2, it wasn't just a song he let them use.

Incubus wrote the instrumentals for the Banshee section of the Heretic missions as well.

I hated that moment, if they had just had the instrumental version it would have been 20x better.

The tide is turning, brothers! Let us take our kingdom back!

I wonder what Ben's reaction was when he found the HI BEN easter egg.
