Subject: Are spartans allowed to have dreadlocks?

And tbh, who is going to stop them? ;P

Which Spartans would dare disobey? They're not generally rebellious.

Any of the Spartan IIs. They are not rebellious, but when you look at grey team, and 117, they don't always seem to follow orders to the letter if they don't have to.

Spartan IIIs however seem more like regular special forces and would adhere to regs.

If you can read this, that means I'm not a Shaolin monk...

Exhibit A, Solomon. Closest thing we've seen to spartans with dreadlocks.
so incredibly un canon, his hair is like that solely for the purpose of the anime feel

spartans maximum hair length was like 2cm, any longer and the helmet wouldn't form to their head correctly, Kats hair in halo reach is the longest hair you will see on any spartan.

The animated shorts all took artistic liberties, Cal-141's (the babysitter)hair would have gone halfway down her back.

I can't remember if there's a description of Adriana-111 from Grey Team or not. She was working counter-insurgency, and had to blend. I'd imagine she'd be one of a few who could have worn her hair long. Even Dare wore her hair short.

How can a 3 meter giant blend?

The strongest Rivals are also the strongest allies.

It is oh so very canon. And if you have a copy of the up to date 2552 UNSC Uniform code, I'd love to see it. No where does it say they can't have dreadlocks. No where does it say Solomon is not canon. He is very real in the haloverse. Deal with it.

In one of the books (In describing Fred, I believe) it confirms that Spartans must have short regulation hair. The only exception should be those undercover, which other than in Cole Protocol, should not really happen at all. Ever.

Source or it didn't happen.

Edit: Even if you find said source, it wouldn't matter. Halo Legends overrules book canon.
lolwut?

Man is born free but everywhere he is in chains.

No, but seeing a Rasta'd Spartan would be amazing.

Only the consideration of other gives your words meaning

Spartans can't have dreads. Any of them that do have dreads are in Halo Legends, let's not forget that their depiction of Halsey looks like a Barby doll so they aren't valid.

Take a good look at Solomon from HL: The Package.
