All the other Halo games had their faults that people complained about for ages. But what about ODST? Can you find one thing controversial that you can complain about other than its length?

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

Well, there's...

But what about the...

No, but most people I know hated it simply because:
"hurrrrrrrr da game isnt worth da sicksty dollers!!!1!"

I loved it.

What the hell is a signature?

Eh theres no matchmaking. But no, I can't think of a single thing.

  • 03.02.2011 5:00 PM PDT

I found it to be a lot of fun. Got old a little quick though. I found firefight on ODST to be much better than Reach.

  • 03.02.2011 5:01 PM PDT

Half of the time I'm dead serious.
The other half not so much.

1. No rechargeable shields.
2. Barely any online multiplayer.
3. Firefight gets old fast.
4. I hate the SMG.
5. No new weapons or vehicles.
6. It's freaking price when it came out!

Drink Mountain Dew

I would say for a story it wa fun but i feel as if there was even more they could have done with it. since it dropped matchmaking, I want a story were i lose myself and firefight got dull quick. Loved the gameplay and mechanics. Solid graphics yet the story was a little short for my taste.

The Moa is strong with this one.

It wasn't really a halo game, that's why I hate it. Halo is known for you playing as this powerful frog that can jump forty feet in the air, and it gave you numerous customization options.

ODST puts you into the boots of a weak ass solider and gives you the choice of an emblem, and a preset character. It introduced no new mechanics other than firefight, and the night vision, which didn't even carry over to reach.

Plain and simple, it's a good game; it's a terrible HALO game.

I bought it for the beta, not gonna lie.

Um seriously? Nightvision carried over.
Halo 2 introduced dual wield and rifles, Halo 3 introduced equipment, ODST introduced Firefight and nightvision.
This is a Halo game. It's simply not a game about MC.
As a side note:
ODSTs are badass dudes. They are the best thing the UNSC has besides Johnson and the Spartans. At this point in the story the ODSTs are the very best soldiers the UNSC can put on the line to fight. 117 is MIA, Cortana is gone, Sgt Johnson is busy. You are just one man tasked to hold back a Covenant invasion with a handful of mates. You don't even get a damn Battle Rifle, you get an SMG and a Magnum and are being asked to save the world. That's what makes this game my favorite campaign in the series. It shows just how desperate mankind is, how impossible the odds are against you.

Just clearing it up. ODST did bring in nightvision, but Halo 1 originally had it built in the sniper rifle. ODST just improved upon it.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

ODST is definately up there in terms of story, both the main plot and Sadie's side-plot (which was pulled off with sheer brilliance).

I think the characters could have done with a bit more fleshing out though, it's one thing Bungie are definately not very strong at with their games. Characters like Romeo stick to the typical stereotypes for their character's purpose, they introduced them with the mindset that we already knew everything about them. Take Buck and Dare's relationship, for example, we get few details on their history other than "she's ONI and that ended the relationship".

Poor Alan was given a few cheesy and unrealistic lines as well ("son of a gun!"), I'd certainly have liked his character more if he was more akin to Wash from Firefly (like Nathan was with Buck).

Otherwise, yes, the story was nothing short of perfection.

"Soon the great journey will begin, but your herecy will stay your feet, and you will be left behind"

Personally I thought it was the best out of all of them (even though I havn't played Reach or Wars) I still am missing several of the audio logs and half achievements (mainly vidmasters haha) firefight definently made up for the short (yet awesome) Campaign mode. Overall a REALLY solid addition to the series. The only thing I didn't like was that easy mode was REALLY EASY and it took a very large jump to normal.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

The story was brilliant. One of my favorite games.

i think it was good but it was anoying complete ing one level and then having to go from one side new mobassa to the other it took about 10 mins

I might not teabag you, but I will poop on you.

love the story, love the atmosphere, liked the characters, fantastic music, great gameplay, and awesome Firefight. The only bad thing I can say about this game is that there is no matchmaking for Firefight.

  • 03.04.2011 4:44 AM PDT

i love the zoo level, but playing as the rookie got old and was a pain in the ass

CE, Wars. ODST, Reach. That's how I'd rank them. I just got it an hour ago, and I'm loving it. I just wish that you couldn't hold a turret, or jump as high is all though. Or carry tons of grenades.

I think the amount of grenades and holding the turret is reasonable. I'm sure the ODSTs can handle holding the turret. They're tough as nails. Also, I'm sure their gear can hold a lot. I agree that jumping seems too high, though. But, even so, it's pretty good nonetheless.

No doubt they're tough, but being able to carry something that has to weigh a whole lot, AND being able to walk pretty fast while doing it, AND being able to jump high at the same time is kind of silly. Still an awesome campaign though.

glory days here I come..

No matchmaking.
Short campaign.

I honestly couldn't care if there was no MM in ODST, it probably wouldn't of worked anyways. I'll take an epic Campaign any day, as well as Firefight.

My Favorite Halo game tied with Reach and CE.
