The would-be UNSC Marine Lieutenant Parisa was a childhood friend of John's. John once saved her from drowning at Lake Gusev, after which John promised to marry her and keep her safe. A photo of the two was also taken by Parisa's father soon after, and would be kept as a memory by Parisa long after she thought John had passed away.
Wow....
thats Sad I hope she finds out he's alive.

I smell a potentially interesting subplot in Halo 4...

2/15/12: Francisco Porras, I'll miss you. Rest in Peace.

Where did we find this out? I don't recall it in FoR.

Evolutions actually.

She and John actually meet up in the battle of New Mombasa, and he is seriously tempted to reveal himself right then and there.

However, the affect on his morale and the UNSC's holds his tongue, and knowing the backlash ONI would receive from that information becoming public.

*Shrug* It's okay. Fairly easy mistake to make as both are collections of shorter tales.

@accordingto343

Your one stop shop for all of 343's fabulous errors and ridiculous notions in the Halo lore.

Not to be a downer, but she probably died when Regret's ship went into Slipspace.

If she was in the forces in Mombasa proper, then probably. If she was in the forces in the old city/Voi, then most likely not.

Well, Chief is pretty much a death magnet.

I think she would have died ... she would have fought on eradinus IV and that place got glassed ?

She was on Earth, battle of New Mombasa.

The question is if she was pulled to fight at ONI alpha site or was stationed/pulled back to the old city or Voi.

Option A means most likely dead.
Option B has greater chance for survival

It's a metaphor for the 07s' lack of identity. too old to be newfag, yet too new to be oldfag, we wander b.net in search of a home, forever trying to be something we are not.

It was a very interesting side story that took a brief moment in a game and gave it deeper meaning. A fantastic story but I seriously doubt it will ever make it into a game.

Chief has a history of people close to him getting killed.
Captain Keyes
Miranda Keyes
Sgt.Johnson
The most of crew of the Pillar of Autumn
Sam
Arthur
Solomon

And so on. Odds don't look good for Parisa.

Completely random and not supporting of my views. (My next statement)

That's how chief is so lucky and survives! He drains the luck from people around him and they end up dying instead of him!

Spartans never die... they just revert to last checkpoint.

Master Cheif is an emotionless, robotic killing machine and this will never make it to a game.

Doubtful this will make it into any game. That being said, I was rather confused when I read this short story. I was under the impression that he had forgotten most of the details of his life prior to the age of six, after he was conscripted. How would he remember something like that? I guess it's somewhat of an impressionable memory though.

Games I like:,
Half-Minute Hero
MBU
Portal
Halo 3 is the best Halo ever
Maps I like: Turf, Avalanche, Pylon, Sandbox, Breakpoint and many more.

DOubtful, when he met parisa, he probally sucked up her luck and soul, and harnessed it for his own twisted evil ways

Probably this. Like every woman Bond meets dies.

If they ever revise the games, it'd be awesome to have references to the books. The players who don't read them wouldn't care too much, and if they did, it'd mean they would read them. And for the players who do read the books, it'd add to the quality and awesomeness of the universe.

My jokes, so I don't lose them (ignore this):
ZedFish's Opinion on Sgt. Foley.
ZedFish's Forerunner Rickroll.

I don't quite know how to respond to this.

Is that trolling, ignorance, or sarcasm?

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I thought that Evolutions story was meh. Then, I read that part towards the end and thought it was one-hundred times better. It's very sad, though.

Nah, they didn't forget. It was more of the training kept them so busy/focused they didn't bother to look back at their childhood. Chief didn't even do it until he saw the picture and Parisa told him about it.
