Has anyone here read it? I really enjoyed it but found some parts confusing, but I love when history is explained in Halo

"Time was your ally human. But now it has abandoned you. The Forerunners....have returned. And this tomb... is now yours". - The Didact

The story about the prisenor scared me as hell

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

Confusing. Very confusing.

The parts that I can understand were enlightening, though.

But, the beginning was pretty slow and boring.

90% of teens today would die if Myspace was completely destroyed. If you are one of the 10% that would be laughing, copy and paste this to your signature.

The ending was shocking and I liked knowing about forerunner history.

It completely changed my view of the Forerunners and the San'Shyuum. The bits I didnt understand were probably written so we couldnt understand them to find answers in the next one. Halo Cryptum 10/10 reccommended read

It was a good read, very enlightening and showed us a lot about the forerunners.

However, to me it seemed as though the first 3/4 of the book went pretty slowly , and then all of a sudden, they are at war with the flood and the build 12 halos and they get fired-The End!

The last few chapters kind of left the feeling of rushed in my mind. Hopefully, Greg will elaberate on the building of the halos and the war with the flood in his next 2 books.

Sangheili Major: "Brute ships. Staggered line! Shipmaster, they outnumber us, three-to-one!"

Rtas 'Vadum: "Then it is an even fight. All Cruisers, fire at will! Burn their mongrel hides!"

Mind = Blown.
I loved it regardless of it being confusing. The action wasn't like I've read previously, but it had a whole new feeling to it, more intense, almost.

It showed us so much more of the Forerunners and the San 'Shyuum. A good read, and I can't wait for the next book.

Yeah, it was good, but can someone explain the green light that paralyzes everyone?

That's Mendicant Bias. A, like, SUPER A.I.

I'm a bit confused as to why Mendicant Bias would help Master Chief in Halo 3 seeing as we now know that they fought against the humans in the war.

I think it's because he had specific protocols to follow in case of an emergency. The Flood was more then an emergency, so I think he had to do what he did.

That, or, he was going rampant. Then, was so smart that he overcame rampancy. The first seems more likely, however.

Mendicant isn't rampant by the time of Halo 3.

He was rampant when he was helping Gravemind, and it's already been hinted in the book that the Gravemind is the soon-to-be-infected Precursor.

Mendicant realized what he did was "wrong", in a sense, and wanted to make up for it.

What I don't get is why he's making up for it by helping his former enemies.

Because he realized that the Master Chief and the Arbiter were the only hope to stop the Flood. Also, that the Covenant's "Great Journey" was a blatant lie. Also, the San 'Shyumm was Mendicant Bias's former enemy, too.
