The Maw and AotCR were great, but I also love The Silent Cartographer and Halo.

I agree, These missions were by far, the best missions of the Halo Franchise.

To be honest I think The Two Betrayals is the best level in the series. I can't explain why, it just is.

Remember back then when the campaign had a purpose?

Agreed :D Hmm, in retrospect though, I enjoyed all the Halo games, even ODST *Gasp!* But yes, the story aspect dropped off quite a bit over the years and that's one of the main things I loved about Halo. I blame the casual gamers market for the drop in long term quality/usability in modern games.

Halo CE holds more good memories than any other game I've ever played though. It's up there with Solaris on my Atari 2600.

Ive played all the halo games and my conclusion is outskirts: OH man i loved Sniper Alley on legendary! Especially because even if they shot you in the foot you died! I also liked the Silent Cartographer, the best mission ever. Its good to see a happy halo topic every now an then.... :) have any of you vets finished Halo 2 the Great Journey on Legendary? I cant for some reason. Sgt Johnson wont penetrate his shield and not matter what i do Tatarus wont die. Is it a glitch or something... its been 7 years since the game came out...

I enjoyed the entire game in Halo CE. But right after the Silent Cartographer every mission is just incredible. The Library was a bit much though. Even saying that, the change to a repetitive gameplay really mixed things up. So I guess the Library was fun at the time. I just don't want to see it again.

Sacred Icon, Delta Halo and 343 Guilty Spark were the best levels in my opinion.

Halo 1 was the best of the series. Halo 2 could have been the best if Microsoft didn't rush Bungie to finish the game.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

I *heart* the Maw, best quote ever on legendary.

"It's over! Hold me, buddy!"

Anybody else want to comment?

Personally, I disliked most of Reach's Campaign levels. Very lackluster, though the graphics and voice acting were superb.

Halo 1 2 and 3 all had great moments and moments on legendary that make you want to rip out all your hair and donate it to Charity. I haven't played ODST yet, but, despite loads of criticism, free roaming and urban warfare seems cool, though it is only cool is the company delivers it in a right way. Dunno if Bungie did so.

So far the best levels are the Combat Evolved levels.

Is it nostalgia or because really are really good?

Why? Is there a prize or a reward for doing so? Is the time I spend compensated somehow?
Personally, I disliked most of Reach's Campaign levels. Very lackluster, though the graphics and voice acting were superb.Good voice acting? Seriously? I think the quality can be summed up in the phrase, "The covenant is on Reach", which was completely monotonous and uninterested. I'm still not sure how it made the final cut.

Halo 1 2 and 3 all had great moments and moments on legendary that make you want to rip out all your hair and donate it to Charity.2 & 3 mostly for me, which is only because I kept dying from cheap things. Meaning, snipers, 5 shots with any weapon(5 plasma pistol shots? Seriously?)etc.
I haven't played ODST yet, but, despite loads of criticism, free roaming and urban warfare seems cool, though it is only cool is the company delivers it in a right way. Dunno if Bungie did so.The night time roaming and some of the other missions have great atmosphere, which is a great transition from the super-solder type stuff.

Is it nostalgia or because really are really good? Yes.

Oh. Haha. I was thinking about Halo 3 when I was talking about voice acting. I'd be lieing if I said Reach had great voiceacting.

[dull voice] The Covenant is on Reach. [yawns] [/dull voice]

I am actually one of those people who complain about the campaign. Hopefully Bungie can come here and realize which campaigns were good and which were bad

I loved all the Halo games... To be honest, I would play any one of them over. But I always loved Assault on the Control Room for some reason... Maybe it was being in the snow? Or getting the Scorpion... Just something about Halo in general makes it all amazing.
Agreed. I played a good chunk of that level yesterday, and it still provided a challenge after all these years.

The Silent Cartographer was the best, probably because of the warthog jumping.

Imagine a triangle. It's perfect, but a little plain. You take a chisel, and carve a small decorative symbol into it to make it a little more interesting. People like it, but it could use a little more.

So you then take a sledgehammer..

My personal favorites:

Halo, Truth&Recociliation, The Silent Cartographer, Assault on the Control Room, 343 Guilty Spark, The Maw, Outskirts, The Arbiter, Delta Halo, Regret, Gravemind, Uprising, The Great Journey, Floodgate, The Ark, The Covenant, Halo, Mombasa Streets, Data Hive, Long Night of Solace, and New Alexandria.
