Hey have you ever noticed in the e3 demo, he looks at a bunch of covies, then looks at the marines and then they say "frag and clear." maybe he pointed at the covenant and then use a xboxlive comunicator set and told the marines "frag and clear."
Think about it, maybe you can command marines with the head set, like Rainbow six 3.
That would be frikin awsome!

I only want one command... a simple command to the marines.... "HOLD! HOLD!" I swear, they're crazy. Four of them rounded the hill top on Assault on the Countrol room and stood ten feet away from the Wraith tank and started gently peppering it with small bursts.

Morons!!!

I think that would suck. Even though the marines are stupid, this isnt RS3. Bungie folk will make the marines smart enough to not jump in front of wraiths with needlers. I hope.

Maybe you can tell marine where to go, or use buttons. Like ghost recon.

Ding Ding!

I think any direct control over AI controlled characters is not a good idea. Its not that I don't like the concept, its just that it is not "Haloish". It would change the gameplay too much. Halo is not a squad shooter.

Nah that would be utter, utter -blam!-e. First of all, not everyone has the communicator, and microsoft would insist on bumping up the price another tenner (good 4 those whove already pre-ordered i.e. me) and anyway, how would it work, bngie are already scratching their heads with the dual weapon interface. Dont forget, EVERY button was used in halo 1

If they do any type of commands, they should just keep them simple. Map them to the D-Pad as commands like "Charge","Hold","Retreat",and maybe like a "Normal" option that sets them back to just doing what they normally do. Using the Xbox Live Communicator for a critical single player function isn't a good idea unless it ships with Halo 2, as not all players will have Xbox Live.

This event that you refer to in the E3 2k3 demo was a scripted event.
