I have no idea why Bungie hasn't mentioned it on their official site yet. But just a couple of minutes ago I was on Kotaku and I found out the long-rumored MMO to come from Bungie is true.

The only detail given so far is that it is not "WoW in space".
I guess that's reassuring.

No matter what you do in life, you will disappoint someone.
No matter what you say, you will offend someone.
No matter what you think, someone will think you're an idiot.

Find and eliminate these people.

I just read the same thing and thought, "Why is this the first I'm hearing about this?"

I figured we'd have seen some sort of update here. I am now hoping for an update with details... glorious, glorious details.

Well E3 looks like the place to be this summer.

I never thought I'd say this about a Bungie game, but I reckon I'm probably out, and for a few reasons.

MMO's don't tend to lend themselves very well to the sort of epic and emotional storytelling that Bungie have got so good at. They're all about progression and that's just not something I'm excited about. Plus I just don't have the time to invest in something like an MMO to make it worth my while, nor the inclination to pay a subscription. Or to give Bobby Kotick any money, for that matter.

I want Bungie to prove me wrong, but I really can't see myself picking this up.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

I don't want to agree with you, but I do share the same opinion.

And I doubt we're the only ones :(

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

I agree, I loved Phantasy Star Universe - but I could not get into the characters nor did I like paying 6 quid a month extra to play it.

I think games companies need to realise that not a lot of people have a lot of time when they get in from work / school etc. I used to have a good deal of free time once upon a time, but now I am lucky to have half an hour free these days...so a MMO would not appeal to me.

BAM said the lady

It WON'T be pay to play haha it's going to be different from most MMO's and remember this is Bungie we are talking about, they wouldn't do that, they are ALL about community. Also people hate on Activision to much...sthu haha

"You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don't try to forget the mistakes, but you don't dwell on it. You don't let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space." -Johnny Cash

It's going to be interesting, that's for sure. Bungie better be tight lipped on this one.

Well all of the guys are at GDC, so we're gonna hear it from there before we see it on the B net. But I'm willing to bet we'll see something in today's update.

It could very well still have a single player/co-op campaign and the MMO aspect could be refering to multiplayer. When people say MMO it doesn't have to be a massive world that encompasses the whole of the game like WoW. It could be more along the lines of MAG which was an MMO (or approaching one)and still easily have a single player storyline.

We're gonna make it.

Be patient, Bungie will reveal it when they're ready.

If I have to pay extra per month then sorry, no buy.

No monthly fee would most likely make the game terrible.

You know our motto, We deliver!

Im excited and anxious to see exactly what they will be doing. Whether or not I will follow Bungie on it's path to world domination.

The Ban Hammer is all that was and all that will be! The Ban Hammer is time and space, life and death! The Ban Hammer can see into your mind! The Ban Hammer can see into your soouull....

my suspicion will be that PC gamers may have to pay a monthly or yearly...but it will be low like $3-6 a month. For xbox it will be built into the xboxlive service anyways. The playstation will maybe cost.

I believe it will be more like final fantasy XI online. Where cross platforms play together, like Xbox, PC, playstation and wii can network together.

It will be incredible.

Better pissed off then pissed on

Never say you're bored. Never say you're satisfied with the world. Never stop doubting or questioning things. Always wonder. Always think. But always take time to drop your guard, you don't have to be smart all the time.

Why can't an MMO be on a console?

They have already announced that they want this game to be multiplatform, as in 360/PS3/ and PC.

They aren't leaving the Xbox behind in any way, just broadening their userbase. And while the Xbox has a troubled history with MMOs (many being canceled such as the Marvel MMO, Champions Online, etc.) We still have games like Phantasy Star Universe that have a good sized following and still receives updates periodically. Not to mention that I imagine if Microsoft trusts anyone to put out a successful game it would be Bungie.

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Yawn...

My excitement and hype for their new IP is diminished, I detest MMO games.

You. Me. Now.

Read the newsletter/weekly update.

The next Bungie game ISN'T an MMO.

A Bungie man talked about Bungie being the place to apply if you wanted to make a massively.... multiplayer action game.

The next game from bungie will be an action game, with a multiplayer focus. Like Halo.

So you might want to pick it up afterall ;)
