Everything will be gone long before me. When the first living thing was born, I was here, waiting. When the last living thing dies, my job is finished. I'll put the chairs on the tables, turn out the lights and lock the universe behind me when I leave.

Halo Wars isn't a 'top quality' RTS compared to something like Starcraft or anything on the computer.

However, it IS the 'top quality' RTS for console.

Excactly!
But that's like saying "it's top quality -blam!-". It's still -blam!-.

Seeing how the next book in the forerunner saga is going to deal with the shield worlds i have a large feeling that halowars is going to go from "un-canon" (and the game is canon) and "crappy" to being mindblowing once the importance and backstory is explained. Hell, i should probably made a thread on that.

hahaha thats true! I bet a lot of the people here will suddenly add Halo Wars to their own little fanon once the Cryptum sequels will deal with the matter.
Kind of how at first lots of Legends episodes were garbage, but once Cryptum and Cole Protocol came along those episodes were suddenly cool as hell... Im talking about first dismissing Elite culture and "Forerunner structures" and later accepting it...

I love and still play Halo Wars but I don't think there will be a second one, and if there is it'll be in name only. Although I hope I'm wrong.

The cake is a pie

I really wanna see a new one. Halo wars is probably the best RTS on xbox and the best i own, but the superunits are way OP, the entire game is biased towards the UNSC, the resource collecting and lack of freebuild means that the ONLY tactic is to build as fast as possible.

I want all these things fixed.

  • 03.06.2011 1:33 PM PDT

In Soviet Russia, Xbox plays you.

Halo Wars wasn't a bad game, but it's like the ugly step child of the Halo games. It sold poorly compared to the other Halo games and the majority of fans act like it never even existed. It has a very small cult following but a part from that the game under performed.

By adding 'Halo' into the game, it generated extremely high expectation. So much so, that the game was destined to be die. The game probably would of performed better if it wasn't a Halo game, since no one would of expected it to live up to the previous Halo games.

I hate to be negative but Halo should stay as an FPS. It really should be obvious why.

Everyone was excited about Halo and even people who had never played RTS games bought Halo Wars just for the "Halo" untop.

That's why I played the demo, which led me to getting the game. If Halo Wars was not Halo, I doubt I would have even considered that game. Even so, the gameplay was still fun and pretty good. I think it needs improvement, but still good. It introduced me to RTS strategy games. Now, I love 'em. I think it'd be awesome to have a Halo Wars 2 and an ODST 2.

The game also had one of the best CGI cutscenes ever!

Andursss

No. Never, ever. Admiral Cole should not be touched upon by sich players, he should maintain his position in canon as the best there is.

i liked the gameplay of Halo Wars, but i think that if they made a sequel that they should take a few ques from End War in terms of the control scheme, i just thought the end war had the simplest easiest to use control scheme for a console RTS ever.

for Halo Wars 2, it should jump maybe 10 years into the future after the first game, and again be a character focused story line, but have the infantry unit be a bit closer to existing canon, also this time, NO FLOOD!!!!, ODST and Reach survived just fine without those green little -blam!-s.

Halo Wars was a great game and a lot of people loved it. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean there shouldn't be another HW's game. I think it'd sell even more then last time. Btw, it was the best-selling console RTS. Just sayin'.

And I hate to be negative, but Halo Wars was waaay better then Reach. It really should be obvious why.

"A LIE is a LIE"

- Truly intelligent and deep Black ops trailer

They need to add flood as a playable race. They need a covenant and human campaign.

And finally, they need things more complex, keeping the Good control scheme while adding in proper base building and a working unit system (the rock paper scissors system just didnt work)

Halo Wars is the most basic RTS at best. Have you actually played Starcraft 2? You'd be in for a reality check.

If Halo Wars was loved by 'a lot of people' then why is game not in the top ten LIVE list. Last time I checked there were only 1000 people playing the game still. Meanwhile Halo: Reach is 3rd with at least 1 million players per week. Halo: Reach is the inferior game is it? Not according to the rest of the world.

Also do you know why Halo Wars really was the 'best-selling console RTS', because it was called 'Halo' Wars. The only reason why Halo Wars sold so well was because Halo was in the name. If it wasn't Halo game then it would of undoubtedly tanked. Also 'best-selling console RTS' isn't exactly the greatest merit. RTS's generally don't sell much on consoles, so it isn't exactly a great record to achieve. Meanwhile Halo: Reach was the 3rd highest selling game of 2010 according to NPD.

Halo Wars was a failure, both from a business sense but also among fans. There is only a small group of fans who actually liked the game, and an even smaller group of hardcore Halo Wars players who thought the game was the second coming of our lord and saviour.

A sequel to Halo Wars would most likely tank, because of the majority of fans hated the original.

Failure to notice Halo Wars wasn't built to compete with Starcraft, it was built for the console. I'd like to see where "Nearly all halo fans hated Halo Wars."

Not many people playing it? Sure, but how old is it now? Lots of games have been released since it came out.

There is enough people to play it: 6000-10000, even 12000 in weekends.

It was a success, just because people don't play it doesn't mean it sucks.

Also, whoever said there should be no Flood is crazy, because i think The Flood should be a playable faction,

The majority of fans are not the smartest group. This is why countries has got a tiny population to run it while the rest can enjoy the stay.
