I like the Mk V armor.

I'm wondering why everyone hates ODST. Is it because there's no SPARTANs? Because none of the squad dies? Why?

I like ODST, better then Halo 3 on some points.I liked it, Dutch at first, I thought was gonna be a real -blam!-, but he turned out to be a much better character(Unlike Emile or Ghost from MW2).

I like romeo for being a complete dick, especially his little fights with Buck.

Buck was a good character, a military leader with a rebellious side. Buck also had a great actor. And I love the damaged armor he gets over the campaign.

Mickey. He has a lo IQ, but a knack for piloting, He's the first idiot ever in gaming. Supposedly.

Dare. I don't know. Seem's like your average secret agent.

The Rookie. Kinda liked him for not talking. I hate what they did to him in the back story in Evolutions. They should just change it for that he was the last survivor of his squad, and fought through Covenant to get to Gage.

I loved ODST but wouldn't want another sneak around to find clues game... So 343 should focus on being a ODST in larger scale battles if they make another one XD

I absolutely loved Halo 3: ODST.

There are more of us out there than you think.

Well, The rookie still lost his entire company in that battle after meeting Gage, hence his muteness(Like Lucy).

Anyway, I figure some hated it because of no Master Chief, others I know hated it because they didn't look at what they were buying.

I just don't like the way they dealed with the Rookie, is what I was trying to say. I hope if they make another ODST, he has flahbacks to that day, and we even see Gage.

I think Rookie's muteness is primarily to maintain his anonymity so the player could shape him as their own.

Same here. I liked it better than Halo 3 which was a lackluster game if you ask me. ODST has its flaws, sure. But it also did something new and it worked well. Especially considering this was just an expansion.

For a future ODST 2, I would like them to focus on 2 character howevers: Buck and Rookie. Remove (most of) the flashbacks, expand the scale of the battles.
Have Buck's story take place during the Fall of Reach, while he is defending New Alexandria with the old squad from the original ODST. Give Buck some squad controls, he is the leader after all, and it would bring some stategy to the game.
Also: to increase the sense of an invasion, dont have the game take place during the night alone. Have Covie Cruisers in the skies all the time, and have civilians on the scene all the time. Show more pure panic!
Then include the mission from Reach where he is escorted by Six, and maybe have us fight alongside a Spartan during 1 level.

As for Rookie: focus on his previous squad and how it was massacred leaving him with PTSD and loss of ability to speak. But that needs to be the end, before that: give him a voice. Have this campaign be more brutal, no squad controls etc.

And at the end, have them reunite the storylines when Rookie joins Bucks team and ODST 1 starts.

Partly, but they did mention is his backstory that he was the sole survivor from his company in that battle. So him and Lucy could be mute for the exact same reason.

You know that's a good prequel idea.

I quite enjoyed ODST as well. Just because the people who didn't like it were more vocal, does not mean they were the majority.

I know, look at Reach. It's a great game, not lawless, but one of the better games of 2010. It's just people tried to find problems and complained about everything.

I think the majority of people didnt like it for a few reasons

The campaign was brutally short
Night vision sucked and just put a bunch of -blam!- lines over everything

No MultiPlayer

FireFight got old

Arse-biscuits! VISR is much better than the NV we get in reach. Which just adds a green aura over everything and doesn't actually help.

Actually, NV in Reach helps in dark areas, VISR simply amplified any light source. Meaning if it was pitch black, you couldn't see crap.

The levels are inferior compared to most other Halo campaigns and the firefight isn't very good either. It's not a bad game, but it's only the 4th best Halo.

Vengeance only leads to an ongoing cycle of hatred.

I loved ODST. It's so underrated. I think it's great, though. It had one of the best - if not the best - Halo campaign. Also, Firefight was a helluva lot better then Reach's. Overall, one of the best - if not the best - Halo game, in my opinion.

Linda was one of the best Spartans and posessed godly sniper skills. This is my tribute to Linda. <3 SRS99-AM Snipers Rifle

I liked ODST, but i REALLY hated how you only got one orbital drop.

Thing that killed firefight/campaign would be the netcoding caused lag, even if everybody was in the same room.

What I don't get is how the Rookie picked up a random item and then magically knew it belonged to someone in his squad.

Well, I don't hate ODST, and think it's a pretty decent game, but I do have a couple complaints. I didn't like the design of New Mombasa. I felt that large portions of it were bland and not too interesting, and didn't quite feel like the city it should be. I found the reuse of level geometry, something that didn't bother me in previous games, to be quite annoying when combined with a much more open world. Understandable given that it was being developed by a smaller team on a shorter deadline, but still slightly disappointing.

There were also a few too many times where the campaign stalled to have you play firefight, and that didn't really work for me. Felt a bit like filler.

But I don't hate it or think its a bad game.

  • 03.05.2011 9:35 PM PDT

We don't hate it, we just wished it was a little but longer.
